My wife took my Chevy Beretta in for disc brakes. I usually do the repairs, but I was busy. Just Brakes initially called back and said that:

(1) the rotors were too scored to drive on;

(2) the master cylinder was leaking badly;

(3) the front disc brake calipers had stuck and ground down the brakes to nothing;

(4) brake fluid was leaking from the slave cylinders. They estimated $700. My wife called me at work. I said "No way," because I had personally done the brake job just 12 months before and hadn't seen any of those problems. When she called them back to tell her that, they said that they couldn't safely reassemble the brakes and that to get them to a "safe" point would cost $200. She said "no way."

They then claimed that the brake components had "fallen apart" when they removed them and that she had to pay for parts. She said "no way." When she picked it up, they again threatened her and tried to scare her with what would happen if she drove it home. She drove it home and I found out that they had

(a) punched a hole through the rubber sleeve of the master cylinder;

(b) had not bled the brakes when they were reassembled;

(c) had lied about anything falling apart, because I had used special brake parts when I put the slave cylinders together previously and the parts were still there.
