March 31, 2003 my father, a white-haired senior citizen went to Just Brakes in Mesa, AZ to have the brakes on my 2000 Chevy Venture van checked in anticipation of our drive back to my home in Oklahoma.

He was aghast to see all four wheels removed from the van and horrified to learn that my brakes were all bad! Dangerously bad. In need of $600 worth of repairs bad, especially "since your daughter is going to be driving it clear to OK...."

Just Brakes made just a big show of pointing out alleged problems which my Dad didn't see. The whole thing didn't ring right with Dad. He declined the repair, after much grumbling, the wheels were put back on and Dad immediately drove up the highway to Pep Boys. They checked the brakes and found nothing wrong. We drove the van to OK, no problems.

I wrote a letter to Just Brakes when I got back to OK and emailed the corporate headquarters. Burt from Just Brakes Mesa AZ called me and assured me my brakes were dangerously bad. He was very convincing. I told him I'd have the brakes checked yet again and see. I took the van in, the brakes were checked, NOTHING wrong.

Just Brakes staged a dramatic tableau for my Dad. That didn't work. They tried to cover it up with Burt's detailed, scary phone call with his litany of dire brakes problems. NONE of this turned out to be true.

My Dad saved me from a fraudulent $600 brake job.
