Complaint Review: Just Brakes

About four months back, I took my 97' Toyota Camry to Just Brakes in Aurora, CO. I assumed they could deliver good results at a low price because of their "specialty" status. I'm embarrassed to say that I know nothing about the repairs my vehicle needed, and now I've paid the price.
(I know this is long, but you need to know what these jerks do.)

JUST BRAKES RIPPED ME OFF.

My front brake pads were worn thin and needed replacing - after a quick inspection, the technician told me that I would need new pads, new hardware and to machine all four of my rotors. First bill : $472 - Paid.

Returned for squeaking brakes twice more and after the THIRD VISIT, I noticed a new sound from my rear right wheel. Sounded like metal on metal - Took my car back to them on the same day for another look. They didn't find anything, but machined the rotors and blamed me for riding the brakes too much. On my FOURTH VISIT they blamed me for driving my car too softly. They machined the rotors and gave me another set of pads.

I made SIX VISITS to the location without shouting or even implying ineptitude. The SEVENTH time, I simply asked for my money back. The fellow, "Don, "filled out a request and told me to expect an answer in two weeks.

As you would expect, I got not reply and had to follow up. I contacted the Customer Relations Manager (CHRIS COOMER) and was told flatly, "I DENIED THE REFUND." Asking why, he said he wasn't sure Just Brakes failed me. He said I'd need to visit his technicians again for "re-assessment." He was very rude.

I told him to pick the best mechanic in the state, and I would meet him anywhere just to resolve the issue. The fella he put me in touch with was MIKE WISDOM (GM of Arvada Location) who seemed reasonable enough. So, on my EIGTH VISIT I thought we were off and running.

Later in the day he called and told me the repairs would cost an ADDITIONAL $750. Said I needed a new master cylinder, and new wheel bearings.

Decided it would be best to get a second opinion before shelling out more cash. When he heard this WISDOM said "I don't need any second opinions about my work. I know what I'm doing. I'm just going to remove the parts we used and put your old ones back in. And that's that."

Called COOMER back to let him know that his "best" guy had concluded our business together. And the story he'd heard from WISDOM was far different. I'm sure he was CAUGHT IN A LIE and forced to install and give me free bearings, pads and rotors (rear assembly).

On drop-off, WISDOM snidely told me that I just got "$500 worth of free parts." And then HE SLAMMED THE DOOR OF MY CAR. His lackey literally THREW A CARBON-COPY OF THE REPORT AT ME, then HE SLAMMED HIS DOOR, too, without saying anything.

What a joke. These were adults acting like nine-year-old girls who weren't invited to a sleepover.

I've had my vehicle checked (within hours of getting it back) just to make sure these jerks didn't sabatoge the car. Both mechanics laughed when they saw how shoddy JustBrakes work was, and repaired the mistakes for me. I was also shown that the master cylinder and bearings were in excellent condition and didn't need to be replaced.

They said people are always complaining about JustBrakes and were suprised that I hadn't heard of their tactics sooner.


NO ONE I KNOW WILL EVER SPEND MONEY WITH THIS RIDICULOUS COMPANY. EVERYONE HAS THE SAME CRAPPY ATTITUDE, RIGHT DOWN TO THE SECRETARIES.


AVOID BUSINESS WITH JUST BRAKES AT ALL COSTS.
The kid next door knows more about brakes than these guys.
