Complaint Review: Just Energy

Just Energy Our bill has doubled since signing up for this, "energy effecient" program. Nipsco checked what we have been paying and what we are now paying and confirmed that. Our thermostat is digitally programmed to have heat set at 65 and our bill is $354.20 South Bend Indiana

 We signed up for Just Energy because of them of course telling us we can save more money on our gas bill. We just recieved a bill of $354.20 and a disconnect notice. We called Nipsco to figure out what is going on and they were able to look at what we have been paying with then which had been .38 cents per therm and now we are being charged double that! I would like to note that our idoor thermostat is electronically programmed to be at 65 degrees when heat is running and that is set at that degrees. I was also told by Nipsco that they cannot check or confirm because Just Energy is a different company, that we are now most likely stuck into a contact with these people and obligated to pay these outragious bills. Having 4 children having our services disconnected is not an option, its just sad not that instead of buying my kids Christmas presents I know have to pay this high gas bill or go without heat in the dead of winter.

I was approached by a sales woman at my home about green energy from Just Energy.  I like to support green initiatives and I am willing to pay a little more to conserve resources.  The sales person offered me a 53 cent therm rate which competitive with National Grid rate at the time,  The rate lasted only for 2 months and then it increased dramatically.  For example, in my lateest bill for 2/2014 my therm rate was approximately 1.16 compared to National Grid rate of 0.69. That is 68% higher!  I would be willing to pay 5-10% higher but not almost 70%!  I aslo found it very deceptive that Just Energy didn't include it's supply cost on my bill and I had to back into the rate on my bill.  When I complained about the high energy bills Just Energy offered me a fixed rate of 73 therms. Here is a link to National Grid's monthly therm rates since 2001. http://www.nationalgridus.com/niagaramohawk/business/rates/4_gas_supply.asp .This is one of the coldest winters in years on Long Island and the highest supply or therm rate has been about 70 therms in March 2014.  The therm rates from 11/2013 - 2/2014 have all been less than 50 therms.  I can't find Just Energy's therm or supply cost the last 12 months on the web(I wonder why?)  Just Energy offering me a high fixed rate going into Spring when National Grid's Winter rates were even lower is not helping me! If anyone can send me a link to Just Energy's therm or supply costs for the last few years please let me know.
