When you buy tires here, do not get the lifetime warranty. Lifetime usually means the life of the tire or at least until you get another car. They would fix minor flats with no problem but when my tire exploded and I needed a replacement, they said my warranty had run out. Now how can that happen if it is a lifetime warranty which would mean there is no expiration as long as you have the same car. I ended up with 4 new tires instead of just getting one replaced and it cost 422. Beware of this ripoff and tell the sales person to find another sucker.

How old are the tires, how many miles?

How old are the tires that you purchased, how long ago did you get them and how many miles did you put on them?  I know that the tires that i have on my car have a "lifetime" warranty but if you look to the fine print it usually gives a number of miles that the tires are rated for and that is what constitutes a "lifetime".  Otherwise, like Ken already stated, once the treads on the tires get fairly low (2/32"-3/32") that also usually is considered to be a "lifetime".

The other thing that you may be running into if the tires aren't very old is the shop could be trying to say that the tire was lost due to negligence.  Predominantly this consists of not filling the tires properly (over-inflation or under).

If you read your copy of the "lifetime warranty", I would bet you'd find...

that the warranty ends when the tread is worn to a certain point..usually 2/32".  That, in the tire industry, is part of what "lifetime warranty" stands for. At that point tires become susceptible to cuts, flats, blow outs and are NOT safe on the road, especially on wet or snowy roads. No I don't have ANY involvement in the tire industry, but at one time did sell tires...quite some time ago.
