I received a telephone call indicating that I had definitely "won" one of three prizes; all I had to do was go to a location 30 miles from my home to attend a 60-minute "dog and pony show", then collect my prize (#1: a Ford Explorer, or $25,000 cash; #2: a paid trip for two to some location -- options included Cancun, Jamaica, Las Vegas, Orlando, FL; #3: a 27" HD TV). The location turned out to be a travel-agency ("Pulaski Tickets and Tours", out of upstate New York), and the presentation culminated in a HARD SELL, one-on-one, to buy a tour-guide membership for (in excess of) $7,000. The "prizes" were based upon 'scratchers' that appear to be predetermined according to the sucker's interest in paying the membership fees; my impression is that nearly everyone "wins" the travel/trip -- because it is, after all, a travel agency -- and I suspect that trying to collect on the travel/trip certificate will prove fruitless, one way or another (either choice locations are not available, no connected airline for the package, hotel/accommodations promised are no longer participating, etc.). I also received a "Gift Certificate" for $1000.00 of "free" tools from keshoppingonline.com -- all I had to do was pay S&H.

Searching the Internet, "keshoppingonline.com" appears to be a SCAM operation; I would encourage on-line reports and condemnation.

S&H on keshoppingonline

#8Consumer Comment

Mon, June 16, 2008

In computing varying S&H on their gift products I found same size ladies purses all appeared to have a common factor - as with all their SRP products offered - S&H runs about 36% of their SRP for any gift product, regardless of the size or weight criteria that USPS or other freight companies use.

An example of comparison shopping: Evidently (maybe the insides are vastly different, because the radio brand and photos are exactly the same!) their 'Vintage Tombstone Style Radio' (Kassel) SRP at $206.95 PLUS $74.50 in S&H ("You pay only Price, S&H") can be found "Buy It Now" on ebay for $34.95 (also Kassel, battery operated, roughly 10X10X14") plus $13.65 in S&H. $206.95 (Price) is used to reduce a Certificate Program gift total, leaving ONLY S&H due at checkout. Again, $74.50 is 36% of $206.95. By paying ONLY KEshoppingonline's S&H charge ALONE the radio is still $23.00 MORE than the total product price and freight from ebay. The SRP's and linked S&H charges appears to be their operational business model. Fair enough. Hey, K&E could "re-sell" the Kassel radio through their Certificate Program to me, then buy it and have it shipped from ebay to me but charge me their S&H and realize a very handsome profit! Fair enough.

Always be aware of business practices when purchasing gift certificates. The SRP could be subject to unusually high markups and the receipient of the gift subject to unusually high S&H. I am not against businesses on the Internet nor making a profit, but do be aware of how you spend money as the giftor or giftee. I would not enjoy looking at that little battery operated Kassel radio in my home knowing its "cost."

Be fair to yourself, I encourage everyone to ALWAYS perform a 'due dilligence' when shopping online, remember "buyer beware!"

Pulaski Tickets & Tours is NOT a Scam

#8Consumer Comment

Thu, May 01, 2008

I have been a member of Pulaski Tickets & Tours for three years. It is a travel organization made of thousands of members and independent travel agents. It is a legitimate business and is a member of its resident Better Business Bureaus with Satisfactory ratings. Pulaski Tickets & Tours is a registered provider or travel in several states including California. They are bonded and insured. They also are affiliated with most all the major travel organizations such as CLIA and IATAN.

I cannot specifically comment on this individual's experience with the sales process he went through because mine was nothing like this. This person also seems to be lumping in other companies in the report. I can only comment on my experience and on Pulaski Tickets & Tours.

Pulaski Tickets & Tours does build its membership through multiple channels, including sales agents. Similar to many sales systems in the industry, they give away money or something of value to prospects to listen to their sales pitch. In my case, I received a cruise package for two. My wife and I were given free food at the resort where we sat through their sales presentation. This is typical of any other similar offer I have responded to. I could have chosen not to show up. I could have just accepted the free gift and walked away. However, we decided to become members.

Pulaski Tickets & Tours is pretty cool. It is basically three things.

One, when you join, you technically become an independent travel agent, where you get your own authentic travel agent credentials, which allows you to get travel agent discounts, commissions, and go on travel agent FAM trips. They will also provide free training on how to be a travel agent. They give seminars all the time. I have sat in on a few online. I know of a couple of people who have become part time independent travel agents with them. No complaints that I know of.

Two, it is a travel club. There are several thousand members. When you join, you get access to their website, where they have all sorts of travel deals and tools. As a member, I can also have their agents book all my travel - hotels, cruises, etc., and I get wholesale rates (usually). I don't have to pay commission.

Third, they are connected to several large distributors and managers of condominiums (like timeshares). I don't know all the details, but they get access to thousands and thousands of condos - a lot of them are like other people's timeshares and vacant inventory...in other words, a lot of inventory that nobody is using, so it is heavily discounted. My wife and I had considered a timeshare at one point, but with our Pulaski Tickets & Tours membership, we can book a week at a condo almost anywhere for less money than a timeshare, and we're not obligated to go to the same place or have to worry about trading our week. We stayed in Santa Fe for a week last year, and we paid (I think) $700 for the whole week, which was like almost half of what they were charging normally, and the place was fantastic! You actually get several weeks a year (even for guests), and this is no lie - if you can travel with little notice and/or are flexible on where you go - I have talked to one member who stayed at the Omni in Cancun for $99 for the entire week!

There are a lot more benefits. I love it. It is not a scam. However, we like to travel a lot. If you don't take advantage of the benefits, then it is like anything else - up to you. It is a little pricey to sign up, so if you are not going to travel or use the benefits, you might want to wait until you get the travel bug. However, my in-laws paid more up front for their time share and pay more in yearly mainteance fees than we do, and they have a basic place in Orlando every year, while we get multiple weeks anywhere, no hassles, commission-free travel, and travel agent benefits. Like I said...it's a good deal if you take advantage.

Didn't mean to get so descriptive about "how great" Pulaskit Tickets & Tours is, but I do like it, and I am very disappointed that I saw it on this website. It is most definitely not a scam, and there are several thousand members. I have met a bunch, and they are all happy that they joined.
