Currently I am on my 4th 1500watt pond deicer (this was selected by their chart) --they have a 2 year warrenty  it has been replaced 3 times  within the 2 yr warrenty -3 have shorted out  1 just quit  -- they last about 2 months (so far)  K & H policy is to keep sending out (in my opinion another defective unit) untill your warranty is up --

they dont care about customer service (they treated me like they think I'm stupid)  or quality control --- they claim they do but 3-4 replacements says otherwise  if you check reviews on various sites selling them you see that there is a problem with many many units for over 2 years --today the excuse is clean it more often !!!

the current deicer had only been in the water for 2 months --- so they want you to clean it every month with the cord frozen in snow in sub zero temps.  ????? according to a review I read  on many sites-- this is the pat excuse when these fail to many times - BLAME THE CONSUMER !!! --

if you have to clean this unit every month or so to keep it from shorting out somethings wrong !!!!  the current one I sent a photo of to them had so little calcium buildup on it you could wipe it off with your fingers  (I have 1 unit that has 10 times the buildup) but I wont trust it because its over 2 yrs old --

There are NO INSTRUCTIONS in the box or on the outside of the box of MY units stating that you have to clean it every month or so -- only a print in black & white to show how to place it in the pond -- I have never seen a company defend its defects so hard !! and never fix the problems I am tired of the employees at K & H treating me like they think I'm stupid --

lets face it this is a pond deicer -- you use it to keep your pond from totally icing over (& killing your fish)  but they expect you to pull the unit out of the water in sub zero (below freezing) temps. to clean it---- I can only assume most people would have to take it in the house to clean it ???? leaving the pond with no protection from freezing at all ---
