I had a 2nd degree leg burn and went to the Kaiser ER & was not treated! I paid $100 co-pay.

The attending Dr. looked at the burn and prescribed antibitocs. I paid $40.00

2 days later, my burn had seriously worsened. I called in to my Primary doctor and she was appalled that I was not treated, i.e., would was not cleaned, no topical antiobitoc applied and not dressed.

I paid $30 Co-pay. I paid an additional $40 for a different antibiotic because the first antibiotic that was prescribed by Dr Caton, I was not reacting positively to.

On the same day my primary Dr. immediately sent me to the wound clinic who refused to see me without a booked appointment.

I had to insist and show them my burn! They said they were not allowed to treat wounds without prior appointment.

Upon my persistent request and 1/2 hour later, The Wound Clinic who refused to treat me then called my primary, Dr Susan MaClean.

After having spoke to my Dr., they conceded. I was treated.

I had to go in for 4 follow up appointments. Healing took over a month and I believe if I had been treated promptly when I first went to ER, I would not have had such a longer time to heal and the scar would not be so big which was a result of the infection.

I paid an additional $30.00 for wound supplies.
