Complaint Review: Kaplan College Riverside CA

I have been attending this college as a part of Rehabilitation to work as a procedure through Social Security Administration. It helps to allow you to return to the work force to make an affordable living income. It also allows you to not loose your benefits if you are unable to proceed, it will automatically reinstate you.

I have been dealing with discrimination due to my disability, I was given a letter from my Doctor requesting the provisions I need to be able to secede. They sent it in for review to see if they could accommodate my needs and it was approved, but has not once been available to use and was not given an answer until I was already finished with taking my mid terms and more then half way through my second coarse of the program. When I applied and took the testing needed to be accepted in the coarse I was never told by the Student Advisor about having a disability worker when I had told her I was on disability. Mrs Fields told me it was agents professional code of ethics to discuss my disability. She set up after school tutoring and they have tutoring on Friday mornings, with my first instructor. When I asked her why she did not do this with mt new instructed she told me it was my responsibility not hers.

I have gone rounds and rounds with her and she is condnsening, contradicting, and has not looked or educated herself about my disability and how it affects my learning ability.

The pressure and the consistent request to see me has stressed me out so much, I am literally sick to my stomach when it comes to going to class. She has not even followed the absence policy of the school that states with proper documentation for being absent you may make up quizzes, exams and finals. I have given her documentation from my doctor every time I was out and still have not been able to make up any quizzes I missed only mid term and final exams, which she had me do 3 finals back to back in one day. I showed the document that states the make up rules to Cris Vaness and it still has not been addressed. When it came to review the comp time to drop or restart the class again with out paying I was told by Mrs Field she could not recommend me to drop due to my academics being fulfilled, so I stayed.

All of our test are supposed to come from out of our text book, there have been several that my teacher told the class she guaranteed if she gave it to us none of us would pass it and had us go do it on the computer when another student entered information into the computer the exact test was on google. My teacher also had us do an open book test for the same reason, no one would pass.

I was extremely ill for several weeks and was told I had to do my make up mid terms and finals without being there for lecture and had no clue on any of the information because I was unable to lift my head and the light sensitivity was so bad I could not read or do my home work to turn in when I returned. I was told read chapters one through six to perform, with my disability by the time I have read a few pages I already forgot what they had said. I no longer know what to do about this except file a complaint with the Department of Education and Disability as well as seek advice from a lawyer about grounds to suing for compensation of mental distress and discrimination agents disabled students. I would not suggest anyone to attend that college with a disability or you are doomed to loose what you are paying for.
