Kaplan University Financial Aid Department The Worst Department of Any School I have ever attended Nationwide
Kaplan Unversity's financial aid department is the worst department of any school I have ever dealt with. I am a current graduate student finishing up my degree. Initially when I enrolled they were on the ball and I got my stipend in week 4-5 of a 10 week course.
More recently however, they have really become horrendous. The counselors do not care, give scripted answers to your questions and delay as much as possible to earn interest off a loan that you are responsible for. My payment was scheduled for 9/26 or two weeks after the start of my class. It was then delayed until October 1st and then delayed again until October 8th which now represents the start of week 7 of a 10 week course. My fees were finally paid and when I asked about my stipend check I was told it would be mailed the end of this week which represents the end of week 8.
When I asked to speak to a supervisor, he told me that they have between 3 and 8 weeks to pay my fees and even though I confirmed with my lender they sent the fees to the school in week 3, Kaplan decides now to hold my money until the final hour of the 8 weeks to suck all the interest they can before I get my stipend. I told the representative that they are making money off of money that I have to pay back to the government. A point that they did not argue with.
Based solely on the financial aid department, I would never ever recommend Kaplan University to anyone. I am going to finish my Master's degree here and then choose another Univeristy for my 2nd Masters. One that has a financial aid department that does not feel students are a burden and is not interested in making money off of my student loans.
