Complaint Review: Karen Zakaria

Karen sold me a sick puppy with Parvo. I paid 400 dollars of good hard earned money for a dog that I expected to have years down the line but instead died on me and my family with in literally a week. She promised to get me another dog something similar to what I purchased from her and asked if it was ok for me to pay for half of what I orginally paid for the first dog. I felt that, that was ok so I agreed. I say that she sold me a sick puppy only for a couple of reasons, when I first brought the dog home it wasn't doing normal things that puppies usually do like it didn't have energy like a normal puppy would have, she kind of just laid around and I figured it was because she like to be babied because Karen informed me that the dog did. But a day or 2 goes by and the dog gets worse and also from the other comments I've read regarding this issue because there are alot of similarities in all stories.

Made a vet appointment and unfortunately something went wrong with my car so she missed the appointment but I called my boyfriend to come as soon as possible and when he did which was only a couple of hours later, the dog was going into seizures, moaning because of how much pain she was in and constantly having bowel movements which were yellowish and runny and smelled like iron. The veterinarian informed me that the dog had parvo and the surgery would almost be a 1000 dollars but it wouldn't be gauranteed that she will even survive. So she had to be put down and that was a 100 dollars

Called Karen to tell her the bad news the next day and she asked me why didn't I phone her 1st other than taking her to the emergency and I explained to her that it was late at night and like normal people I thought that taking her to the vet to seek proper help from a professional physician was the correct thing to do. So I asked if I can possibly get my money back or at least half and she said "no" and thats when she suggested to sell me another dog for half price and I agreed. Because Parvo is a disease that doesn't allow you to bring another kanine into the home for about 4-6 months I told Karen that I was in no rush and for her not to drive herself crazy trying to get me the same type of dog. But reading up on the disease I found that there were things that can kill the disease more than likely bleach, water and a little laundry detergent and also to throw everything away that the dog came in contact with and I did.

So after about a month and a half I phoned Karen to tell her that it didn't matter what sex the dog was or what color because the dog was actually a gift for my little girl and also I haven't heard from her since I informed her of the death of the dog. After that it was very very very hard to contact Karen even with me having 3 phone numbers that she provided for me to call. I called her and finally she picked up and she actually gave me date of when I can come and take a look at the puppies and at this point it had been maybe about 2 1/2 months later. The day comes for me to go over and look and I called Karen and she didn't pick up. She finally calls me back and says "I'm on my way to Rochester Hills to pick a dog up can you call me back"? and she seemed irritated and I told her yea I guess so. Called her back, no answer at all and she even turned her phone off.

There were 2 numbers that I would call her from and it seemed whenever I did all 3 numbers I would call would only ring 2 maybe 3 times. So I decided to call her from a completely different number and what do ya know she answers. When I told her who I was she seemed shock and basically it was like the few times that I did speak with her it was always an excuse of why she hasn't been able to get me another dog. So it's been about 3 months and maybe 2 weeks and in between all that time I've been calling Karen, leaving her text messages, emails and of course voicemails and she would never respond to anything. I decide to call her from a different number again and she answers it again and once again she seemed shocked to hear from me and I simply say you know I've been trying to reach you everyday now and all i want to do is just get this whole situation over with because it's been like almost 4 months since I was supposed to recieve a dog from you and I haven't. and she goes "well I'm a petco can you call me back or do you want to hang on"? And of course I say hang on and about 30 seconds later she hangs up on me and turns off her phone.

I call back and left her a message saying I didn't understand how things ended up the way they did the only thing I wanted was to be informed and for you to be honest and updated me on what was going on instead of being fed excuses like how you were doing and also I don't understand why you were avoiding me if you didn't want to sell me a dog you could've just said so from the very beginning and we could've avoided all this time that was wasted. I even sent her another email stating that the only thing I'm trying to do is get my little girl a dog and I would like to finish doing business with you for her to just call me so we can pick up where we left off. But, of course she didn't and now I'm filing a lawsuit against her.

I guess the thing that really bothers me is that I told Karen from the very beginning that the dog was for my little girl and for my daughter to only have had her first animal for a week and die was devastating and heartbreatking. And also with being fed b.s promises of me getting another dog I would tell my daughter that I would and at the time I never did because I was expecting a dog from Karen. But now we're saving to get a healthy dog and not 1 that has been exposed to other animals and their diseases. Because with the litters that Karen had and with them being mixed in the way that they were it's possible for all of the dogs to be sick. So if you are a buyer and looking for a great deal on a toy dog DO NOT GO TO HER, SHE DOESN'T DO BUSINESS PROPERLY!!!! AND SHE MAY SELL YOU A SICK DOG.
