Karuna Chani LEFT BRIDE WAITING New york New York
After I paid my deposit to Karuna to book her for my autumn wedding in Long Island, she mentioned she would be in NJ doing an event earlier that day. I asked if that would be a problem because I don't want any delays on the day of my wedding.
My contract stated she would provide her services from 4- 7pm. When I arrived at my bridal suite at 4pm on the day of my wedding , I waited and waited and she did not arrive. I called her and she said " I am on the George Washington Bridge." In disbelief I asked her why she was still in New Jersey when she knew she was supposed to be at my bridal suite at 4pm. Instead of admitting she was in the wrong she had a litany of rationales. She said very arrogantly " Your services are from 4- 7, there is a 45 minute leeway time included in there." I asked about Christine, the hair stylist whom I also booked. She said "Christine is driving behind me."
I had to call her several more times to inquire about her arrival time. At one point she said " I did not think there would be traffic on the GW Bridge on a Saturday. The fact that this "professional" was still in New Jersey at 4pm when was paid to be in Long Island from 4- 7, was ridiculous. Karuna was haughty, arrogant and unrelenting in each phone call. She obviously put my event on the back burner and left late. Instead of admitting this, she rudely told me that she has a 45 minute leeway. How arrogant. Her tone was far from comforting. No bride should be treated that way.
Long story short, I had to find an alternative makeup artist on the day of my own wedding. My sisters spoke to Karuna when she arrived 1 and half late and demanded a full refund. When she spoke to them her story changed! She said she was late because of a death? Funny, how she never mentioned that to me just a few hours earlier. She sounded far from sad or grief when I spoke to her. If this was caused by an unforseen event like a death- where was Christine? Why would she also be delayed and be driving right behind her?
If there was a death, any professional would call their client to give them enough time for making alternative plans.
What Karuna did was reprehensible.
I merely share this experience so other potential clients know.
