When I first signed up with Katharine Gibbs in December 2004 to start classes January of 2005 I was told that they had morning classes for Business Administration. When I went to pick up my schedule it stated that my classes started at 1pm and ended at 6pm. When I confronted the school about this I was told that everyone has to do 1-6pm in their first semester. When it was time to sign up for the second semester, this is when I was told that I had to keep this same schedule for the first 5 months. At that point I went to the dean to see what could be done about this. He suggested that I transfer to Office Administration Business (OAB)because it was in the morning. I did change my major to OAB. At the end of the second semester I decided to keep OAB as my major because I wanted a morning schedule. When I went to officially change to OAB I was told that I would loose 12 credits, so by that time the only other choices I had were 1-6pm and 6-11 pm. I chose 6-11pm. At the end of my third semester I was called into the financial aid office and was told that I could not sign up for the fourth semester because of an open loan period in Bronx Community College, the college where I transferred from. At that point I transferred to Mercy College and leaving with a balance of $512.01. I took out a loan in Mercy College to pay that balance. When I went to pay it I was told that I owe over $5,000. They also neglected to tell me that you have to acquire 92.50 credits to get your Associates Degree, which I didn't find out until after I left the school. Katharine Gibbs is a rip-off and the teachers are not qualified to teach anyone. I am in court with them now fighting for the credits that I already paid for. This school is nothing but a joke preying on innocent people just trying to get an education.
