I am in a wedding in 2 days and the dresses are not in....that's right, they aren't in. Kaufman's Wedding World in all their greatness have told us repeatedly and daily - "I GUARANTEE they will be in tomorrow." Tomorrow has come and gone, many times, and still no dresses. The bride's dress came in just two weeks ago and when she went for alterations was told, "you'll have to find someone else, our seamstress is booked," then proceeded to hand her a bag with a balled-up, wrinkled wedding gown.

When I called again Monday to see if the dresses were in, and they weren't, I asked what they were going to do if they didn't come in. I was quickly told "They'll be in tomorrow," and was promptly hung up on! When i stopped in they said, "It's only Tuesday." The wedding was in 4 days at this point! Last night (Wednesday - 3 days before the wedding), the bride and several bridesmaids stopped in to ask for our money back. We were told that they couldn't do it.

We needed our pink slips and they wouldn't return them with out them. One of our bridesmaid paid by phone and was never given a pink slip, but that didn't matter. We asked to speak to the corporate office. They said there was no one there and besides, "they didn't have the number for Anita, (The customer service representative) only a fax number.

Apparently, they found it as soon as we walked out because the other bridesmaid received a call not 20 minutes later from Anita - who had just received a call from the State College office! Funny how that works. Again we were guaranteed that the dresses will be in today (Thursday, two days before the wedding). I hope they fit, because no one has time for alterations and Kaufman's won't do them anyway. I already paid for mine, so I better find the stinking pink slip to get my money back.

Oh, just like previous brides mentioned, we were told Wednesday - 3 days before the wedding - that the dresses were a rush order and we ordered them late - we ordered Early January, the wedding is mid- May. We should have expected them to come in "at the wire". This was news to us.

The funniest part to me (not that any of it is funny) is that EVERY SINGLE PERSON that we told about our problems with the dresses stopped us and said, "Let me guess, Kaufman's." This includes men and women of every age bracket! It seemed that everyone we talked to had their own "Kaufman's horror story" to tell. Quite a reputation they have. How they have been in business for a hundred and ten years is beyond me.

Don't buy from them! There are much better bridal shops - Formalities in Bellefonte, Diamonds and Lace in Boalsburg and more. Anything is better than Kaufman's Wedding World!
