My boyfriend and I went to pick out a ring at Kay Jeweler's, where he has been a faithful customer for the past 10 years. After picking it out, he decided he wanted something inscribed in it....a very particular phrase, in German. In any case, he had to repeat the words for the jeweler several times before she was able to recite it back to him. The ring was sent off to be sized and inscribed, and we planned on returning within two weeks to pick it up.

Two days later, my boyfriend receives a call from his ex while he's working. She starts screaming at him on the phone, actually spouting out the ring stats...the type of the ring (it was a wedding ring), the size, the specific price (to the CENT)...even describing what it looked like...then she bursts out with that phrase we wanted inscribed, pronouncing the German phrase correctly and precisely.

She did not know he was getting me a ring, obviously she had not seen it, nor does she know German. But someone at Kay Jeweler's gave her all of that information...and it was just not a slip of the tongue for her to be able to recite a German phrase so succinctly. It was a travesty. As a result, jealousy ensued, and she started stalking us, and even showed up at the mall a few weeks later...the ONE damned time we went there to get it cleaned. And of course, she had baby in tow, to pull off the full VICTIM plot, with me as the *other* woman (they broke up before my bf and I even met) and started screaming across the mall, telling her daughter that I'm who daddy left them for, and I was a b***h, etc. Then she tried to attack me, and security was called to detain her. Before they arrived, my boyfriend, who was holding his daughter, restrained her from coming after me. When she realized she couldn't get at me, she started hitting at him, and their daughter. It was disgusting.

If Kay Jeweler's had not released this VERY private information, even after KNOWING what was going on with that psycho (we made them WELL aware before we even decided on the ring), this would not have happened. Even after learning of my boyfriend's sordid past with that scum, they still felt compelled to release that information to her, and ended up causing alot of unecessary hell. I mean, alot of us have had jealous exs...how would you like Kay's to willingly release the price of an expensive diamond ring you're getting your current girlfriend? Do you REALLY think things would remain calm, if that person was obsessed with you??? Not a chance. Aside from the store's *supposed* privacy policy, common sense should prevail when you are aware of that sort of situation. We ended up returning the ring as a result and went with another jeweler.

I really don't give a crap what *pity* story the ex pulls to gain sympathy and inside information. Maybe this was some sort of female *bond* that caused the woman to divulge the price, type, inscription, etc, of a diamond wedding ring. IT'S STILL NO EXCUSE for releasing purely confidential information. That is a potentially FATAL issue. Not all jealous ex's are going to be as *restrained*. People have been killed for less. Jealousy warps the mind...especially when diamond rings and the possibility of marriage come into play. Add that to a greedy, vindictive ex is just asking for major trouble. I shudder to think what would have happened if she had a gun. She's a seriously warped individual and there are others out there that are even worse than this.

KAY JEWELER'S....YOU NEED TO start taking your privacy policies ALOT more seriously, and make your employees WELL AWARE of the fact that this is an UNACCEPTABLE and ILLEGAL business practice, and take appropriate action (TERMINATION) if an employee chooses not to comply.

Kay Jeweler's..."Every HISS begins with Kay."

Thanks for listening. I hope the rest of you are a little better off and don't ever end up in this situation.
