Kay Jewelers They tell you one thing and have another sales person talk you into something else Birmingham, Alabama
My husband bought me a sterling silver bracelet with diamonds for my annivesery at another jewery store (not Kays) they were replacing a diamond that had come out. I was very frustrated with them about the repair. I was at the mall so I went into Kays to look at their jewelery, the manager struck up a conversation about her crazy day so I relayed my frustration about the barcelet, she said that I should bring the bracelet to her and she would give me full value as a trade in for a ring she was showing me, I said no I can't do that, she responded why not, why keep the bracelet when I can trade it for the ring I wanted and not have to pay anything more, she incouraged me to go get my bracelet back and let her have it to trade for the ring, I asked her, "shouldn't I wait for it to be fixed first", she said "No no, it's fine, go get it", so I did. I had the receipt to show I paid 550.00 dollars for it three months earlier. I gave it to her and she then told me I should come back tomorrow to their exclusive, hard to come by, once a year, invitation only, for current accounts, Sale. When I said I didn't have a current account they were happy to sign me up so I opened an account also. She took my bracelet and dropped into a plastic baggie, not in the jewlery box I had given it to her in, so I asked "Should she put in in the box so it wouldn't get broken she said no it doesn't matter don't worry about it. I told her I would be back tomorrow, with my husband so he could see the ring. She said to call her before we came because they would be extremely busy with this exclusive sale and she would make sure she can spend some time with us. I left extremely happy and glad I had gone in to Kay Jewelers.
At 4:00m I called to tell her we were on our way, she was curt and didn't act like she remembered why I was letting her know I was coming. We arrived at 4:40pm and she was on the phone, we waited another 20 minutes, when she finally came over to give me the ring that I wanted to trade my bracelet for. She barely aknowledged me and basically was talking to me as she was walking away, I then asked her what she work out, she acted distracted again, she said "She would go work it all up, she never came back to talk to us, at all, another ten minutes goes by, and instead of her talking to us, another sales person started talking to us about trading in my wedding rings for a new set, we were still waiting for the "Manager" to come back so we went over to look. This new salesperson tried and tried to convince us that we needed to trade my wedding rings in for a new and bigger set. This new person told us the same spiel about the trade in value. We stood there for maybe another 30 minutes waiting for the manager to come back, and discussing the new "trade idea". I then asked the new person why I wasn't talking to Karla the manager, she said she was on the phone, still. Now it has been about an hour she still does not come over to us. We explained what we were told to new lady, she said "She remembers and I was right she did say all those things.
It was so outragious and obvious she wasn't going to stand by what she had said the day before. I asked for my bracelet back and was very angry on many levels, I also wouldn't even have my bracelet fixed, they had lied to me while trying to upsale me and wasted our time..I won't ever go to a Kay Jewelers again and I cancelled my account, and will tell anyone who will listen of my bad experience..
This isn't the only bad experience, the wedding rings I mention earlier, the saleslady scoffed at them and said they were worth about 1500.00, we looked at her and told her we had bought them at Kay Jewelers and had paid 2400.00 for them. We believe at the time we bought the set we were shown one ring set and when we had it resized they sent us back a lesser value ring, the one we had bought did not have the flaws the second rings had, also we have to send them off to get the white/silver that makes the ring while gold back on every six months. The set was not worth what we paid for them as the salesperson noticed right away.
