Kayak is designed to be a film-flam site. I searched for an overseas flight and got results sorted based upon prices. I chose a flight that seemed reasonable based upon times and price, but after filling out all the information, it was cryptically indicated that the $775 was not the price I was booking, it was really $950+. Upon further investigation, the advertised price on the main search page was essentially a fictitious price from Priceline that if I wanted it was not available through Kayak or Priceline. Using the "Book Now" button had me book at a price higher than the main search page indicated. While likely not a consumer affairs violation, it seems to be an intentional act to have consumers pay more than the "advertised" price. The main search page advertised price should be the price that the site books for the user. Not a suggested retail price that will not be accessed when using the "Booking" button. After realizing the bait and switch process, I learned that a cheaper direct flight was available. Due to Kayak's deceptive pricing and booking, this was not seen on its site. I had to go to another apparently more reliable site for this information. I'll never use Kayak again.
