I was a highly successful sales rep for Keeler BMW from July 2004 through February 2005. I built relationships with my customers, many took it upon themselves to go above and beyond in giving feedback to the management of Keeler Motor Car. Out of 7 sales representatives I ranked in the TOP 3 for the time I was at Keeler. I was never given a single handout by management. I worked extremely hard for everything I was given.

Then comes in BRIAN HAGGERTY a/k/a Howdy Doody as Art affectionately named him. A flunky whose resume listed several high line management jobs which he never stayed at (hint hint)

He comes in to town like a fancy pants Sheriff - and two people immediately resigned - obviously knowing he was a d*^k. He then, being the PROFESSIONAL he is, steals 2 of his former employees from the dealership he worked at previously, LIA INFINITI of Latham. He then begs - within ear shot of the rest of us, a gal named Michelle to come over as well via telephone.

Well, here I sit, A guy not afraid to stand up for myself or my beliefs - who sells mad cars and gets rave reviews from the important people, the customers. I called in on a Saturday due to illness, first time ever missed a day due to unexpected illness, I had sold 4 automobiles that week, I come in on Monday and he simply calls me in to fire me. I press and ask WHY? He stammers like a stutterin John and gives me a tiny load of fly sh** - because there is NO REAL REASON to let me go.

WELL WELL WELL - WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE?? BRIAN SEEMS TO HAVE CONVENIENTLY MADE ROOM FOR ANOTHER one of his cronies from LIA Infiniti.

What a guy! Kind of like a guy and a half. Keeler sure made a great business decision bringing on this nit wit.

I had a great deal of respect for Sandy Keeler and John Waterhouse prior to this event. It just goes to show, that no matter how high up you are, car sales is simply car sales and people never cease to be shady, inconsiderate, greedy LOSERS.

One last thing to say is KARMA DUDE!

My Keeler Experience

#5Consumer Comment

Thu, May 14, 2009

Jason, I'm really baffled by this talk of Keeler Motor Car Company treating its employees badly. Keeler is a large company hand picked to represent some of the world's best brands, and from my experience with them, they seem to employ only the nicest and most talented employees. I am a lifelong client and have been treated with nothing but respect by both the upper management and the salespeople at Keeler. I've never personally seen any favoritism or hostility going on behind the scenes, so I find it hard to believe that Keeler is mistreating any of its employees.

However, if you're under the impression that you were possibly mistreated at Keeler, then I would do what another poster already suggested: Check out the want-ads and find another job somewhere where you think your talents will be better appreciated. That way, everyone's happy.

Good luck, Jason. I hope you find peace one day.

The Business new manager generally brings on-board his sales crew.

#5Consumer Suggestion

Sounds to me like you've been in the business for awhile, but haven't worked at any stores other than the one you're talking about here. Any time there's a management change, the new manager generally brings on-board his sales crew. Sometimes it's a very fast change, sometimes it takes a year or more, but 9 times outta 10, it happens.

You sound like you're a producer, but you've got an ego problem. The way you're talking you seem to be under the impression you were some sort of sales phenom, which while that might indeed be true, it's going to rub any new manager the wrong way pretty much from the get-go. If you were adversarial with the new guy, which I'd guess you were from your writings, this is most likely a blessing in disguise.

Any store you work at, the sales people and the desk manager have to 'mesh', if they don't, they just end up driving each other nuts and no one makes any sales. What you should do is shake it off and go find a new store where your talents and style will be more appreciated. This is something which happens ALL THE TIME in the business, so you'd best get used to it. It's neither fun nor pleasant, but it happens and I promise you if you decide to make this your career, it will happen again.

On the up-side, every manager you work for will teach you something, even if it's only how much you hate the way he or she runs a store. From what has happened you will learn how you would handle this situation were YOU the manager in charge, and if you ever run a store of your own, you'll be a better manager for it. If you remain in the sales position for the rest of your career, this will teach you how to shake off something bad and move on to the next sale. Nothing will hurt your productivity more than dwelling on negativity.

Open the newspaper, check out the want-ads, and I promise you there's about 10 potential jobs waiting for you. Check them out and meet with the managers, you'll find something which will make you happy.

Good luck!

Payback's A b***h

Worked for a guy on and off for 14 years, the last time for 8 years. Every year, I kept a record of each and every sale I made in that year's book including names, dates and phone numbers. After the guy screwed me over one time too many, I quit and opened my own place. As soon as I opened, I got on the phone and called each and every customer, I had ever done business with and told them where I was and said I'd love to continue to serve them to the best of my abilities.

My business is about 75% of customers who followed me. Not too long ago, a women called me and asked me if I was the same Cory who use to work at XXXXX. I said yes. She said I'd made her and her husband's wedding rings 15 years ago. She'd lost hers' and was wondering if I could make her a new one.

I hadn't spoken with her for 15 years. She came looking for me 15 years later. I've had my shop for 10 years now and have cost that "person" millions of dollars.

If I were in your shoes, I'd head to the nearest BMW, and contact all my old customers and tell them where I am and ask for their business. Don't get mad, get even. Payback's a b***h.

KEELER MOTOR CAR BRIAN HAGGERTY UPDATE

#5Author of original report

Wed, April 13, 2005

Many of you ask how this is a consumer rip off? Well that is easy, the consumers that purchased BMW's and had a great relationship with me as their sales person have indeed been ripped off. Why? Because they now have to deal with these new people - Brian's pals, who simply cannot compare to the service and treatment I have given my customers and what they now expect and deserve. Keeler lost many good people from BMW due to Brian Haggerty - from a great sales manager Jude all the way through 4 additional people that either quit, were transferred to another division or were fired.

The truth shall set you free, this is the truth and it's a d**n shame that Keeler upper management simply doesn't value their employees as they should.

The facts are the facts.
