Complaint Review: Keith Tanner Transmission

Keith Tanner Transmission Keith Tanner Only replace 1 part of transmission and did not rebuild , but charged $1400 with a six month warranty not the 12 month as advertised on Angies list and phone number listed inoperative to call to check up on repairs. When I called several colleges and other transmission shops I was informed of the process for that type of charge. When car brought in the OD light came on and I was informed by one mechanic that it was the transmission . Original repair was Sept.9 2014, problem arose July 15th a mere 10 months. Austell Georgia

I took my car in Sept 9 , 2013 to Keith Tanner Transmission. He said he woiuld rebuikd it for $1400. I oaid the $1400. The car was fine until Juky 15 , 2014, a mere 10 months. I sopped at two Master mechanics homes and they stated that it was the transmission and to take it back because it should not have problems so fast if it was rebuilt. If a mechanic only replces a broken ir bad oiece and did not rebuild it then it could have another problem within months that was affected by the first problem. I called some automotiv emechanic instructors as well and they concurred. So, I  attempted to call  Kieth Tanner's number listed under Angies List and on the internet which was disconnected.

So I ventured to other businesses in the area to find out if they knew whether Tanner Transmission was still in business. I would think that an advertsied phone number should be working for business. I had another mechanic which had driven the car around the block and said that the OD light  came on but nothing else and to take it back to Tanner Transmission. He  accompanied me to the shop where we saw people working and asked for Mr. Tanner. We found him watching TV in the back with two Rickwilders dogs. We explained the situation. He stated that I shoudl leave the vehicle and keys and he would take a look at it.

I had the other mechanic follow-up with Tanner . Tanner informed him that he woudl take it for a spin, but that it was not under warranty. I said why do you advertise 12months or $12000 miles yet say you gave me a six month warranty. A rebuilt should last longer than that .When I attempted to call back , Mr. Tanner said he would take it aprt free and tell me what parts btroke and only charge me for that work. It sounds fishy. I spoke to instructors and other reputable mechanics whi stated that some transmission mechanics rip-off people by only replacing one part and not actualky rebuiling the transmission and giving a short warranty

because they know that the broken piece caused wear-and-tear on other parts that would soon break if not replaced in the rebuikd process. He offered to take it apart before I return an dID parts causing the problem . After that he was always out , in th ebathroom or unavailable. I find this deploravble. I think all repairs should be recorded and labeled with a scanner  and a permenant record is made of it to make sure steps are done properly to catch people s=who charge people for things they do not do.Help me! I am a single mom who needs my transportation for an 87 year olf mom and children to school.

I paid by check.
