Kelly Murphy Boys Lounge, Eviciton Notice, Las Vegas, Nevada
Usually, you don't get evicted from a place before you actually open the doors. Not
Kelly Murphy and Boys Lounge. Boys Lounge had been under construction
for forever, it seems like. It was supposed to open back in September.
But the doors never opened, and it doesn't look like they will. The
eviction notice that is taped to the front door of the unopened club
tells the story. It's there in full display, right on the
front door for all to see.
This isn't Kelly Murphy's first eviction from a property, either. He and
another one of his clubs, Copa Copa Bar Grill and Entertainment at Town
Square, also was shut down. Same deal -- an eviction notice was taped to
their front door, too. That was earlier this year. Murphy and partner
Sia Amiri were in default on $50,000 in payment to TSLV, LLC -- their
landlord.
This is just the latest in a long line of shady business practices by Kelly
and his merry gang of cohorts. Copa - shuttered, Kelly evicted. Boys
Lounge shut down, Kelly evicted. Krave Massive - in deep trouble with
Kelly and partners some $80,000 in the hole in their effort to try to
reopen it. Drink & Drag - Kelly's only currently opened LGBT venture
- bounced employee checks. Everything
that Kelly touches seems to turn to ... well, I won't use that word, but it certainly isn't gold. Far from it.
Boys Lounge was supposed to be an LGBT social gathering spot and the first
LGBT non-smoking venue in Las Vegas. Before eviction in its prime
location -- in the historic Las Vegas Fruitloop -- Boys Lounge was
envisioned as a "sexy gay ultra-lounge will be an artsy, urban facility
with featured artwork by Tim Burton, Dr. Seuss, and David Bowie" with
state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Well, it is no more. I'm
sure Burton, Bowie and Dr. Seuss's estate are crushed. Kelly has risen
from the ashes before, to wit, his emergence from prison to becoming a
proprietor of business ventures catering to the LGBT crowd.
I, and others, will definitely be keeping an eye on him, and will shine the light everywhere he doesn't want it shined.
