After saving for months & finally getting the balls to go to an actual dealership to purchase a car, I was sadly dissappointed. Though it started off great. I went to test drive a 2011 Chevy Aveo and it was PERFECT! Absolutely everything I wanted and at a great price. I went in, decided this is exactly what I wanted and went ahead with the paperwork. Gary gave me every impression that I was approved. Even took my down payment! Said everything was all set and all he was waiting for was the title from the previous owner and that I would be able to pick the car up in a couple days. Even said congratulations on the purchase!!!!

The next day, of couse anxiously waiting for a call that my car is ready - I get a call from Gary saying that I was declined for the loan. I would need a co-signer (which in this economy - everyone in my family's credit is poor, so that wasn't happening.) Heartbroken, I told him chances of me finding a co-signer were very slim and that I would call him back the next day. Called him back & explained I wasn't able to find anyone and would have to call off the deal. You can tell in his voice that he could give two shits and almost hung up before I said HEY I NEED MY DOWN PAYMENT BACK. Of course I had to go out of my way again to go back into the dealership to get the funds returned to my credit card.

Why wouldn't you say "Hey let me run your credit and we can go from there.." rather than "Let me take your down payment and completely lead you on?"

All in all, this was a horrific experience and I don't recommend ANYONE go to Kelly Nissan in Beverly for a car. It's clear they could give 2 s**ts about their customers and Brian Kelly should be ashamed to have such a slimy and conniving sales rep working for him. Who knows how many other people he has done this to!!!!

The salesperson's job is to show you the features and benefits of the vehicle, work out an agreeable purchase price, assist with completing the paperwork and ultimately deliver the vehicle when the bank approves your loan.  How does a salesperson benefit from "leading you on that you are approved for a loan?"  The salesperson spent several hours with you prior to finishing the paperwork to submit to the bank.  At any point during this time, you could have very easily mentioned, "Hey Gary, I have some issues with my credit."  At that point, Gary would have let you fill out a credit application to find out if you qualify for a loan.  Salespeople work on commission, if you are unable to get approved for a loan, they earn nothing.  It's in no one's interest to lead someone on about their ability to get approved for a loan.

Buying a car is a collaborative process.  If you have credit issues, simpy tell your salesperson when you arrive and they will have you fill out a credit application to see what vehicle will work for you.  It saves time for both the consumer and salesperson. To answer your question about why the salespeople didn't ask to run your credit - salespeople are in a tough position because if they ask about your credit, some customers take offense.  If they don't ask about your credit, some customers, like yourself, feel like they are being led on.  It can be a no win situation at times.  Gsry is a hard-working, dedicated salesperson who provides his clients with great service.  It's disturbing that you would write these things about him.  I apologize that you didn't have a better experience with us but the things you wrote about Gary are simply not true.

In regards to your deposit, you didn't need to ask about it. Once we receive a denial for a loan, deposit refunds are immediately processed. The notion that you had to return to the dealership to get the funds returned to your card is not accurate.

Our dealer group is highly ethical in everything we do and evidence of that can be found in our 1500+ positive online reviews.
