Superhero Events Ken and Sabrina Nwadike AKA Free Hugs Project Guy and Sabrina Nwadike (Sabrina Lynn Anderson) scams pepole with half marathons then cancels raves then keeps your money! I signed up for the USA Half Marathon and they did Not give anyone a refund. They did this to several other races as well. Look up their complaints with the Better Business Bureau. This is the innocent Free Hugs Guy which Ken Nwadike spends thousands of dollars of money scammed to fly around and not work and take your money. If you post any negative stuff on Facebook Sabrina Nwadike will delete it. Sabrina runs around while Ken takes all your money! Ken E. Nwadike Jr is a peace activist, motivational speaker, and video journalist known as the Free Hugs Guy online.

The scam was published in Runners World! On October 17, entrants learned via email that San Diego’s USA Half Marathon Invitational, which was set to take place on November 19, was canceled. More than a month later, many runners have not gotten their money back: Runner’s World spoke to more than 20 people who have yet to receive refunds. The email said the second-year, qualifiers-only race was canceled “due to permitting issues that would create challenges for us to produce a safe and well-organized event this year.” It went on to say, “We will begin issuing full refunds today. Please allow up to 2 weeks for registration refunds to show up on your bank or credit card statements.” The race organizer, Ken Nwadike Jr., said via text message that runners would receive their refunds. When asked the reason for the delay, he said, “The process is taking longer than we initially anticipated.” He did not respond to a follow-up text requesting a phone conversation. After runner Emilie Reas didn’t receive her refund, she emailed the race, tweeted to them, and posted on the race’s Facebook page. Her post no longer appears on the page. “They originally promised the refund by the end of October, but nobody has received it as far as I know,” she said. “They also deleted everyone’s [Facebook] posts complaining about their missing refunds and the race’s unresponsiveness. We runners are very frustrated by this possible scam.” Perry Penaranda ran the race last year and enjoyed the course and the fast pace of the field. He said a group of friends signed up for this year’s race together, and one of them is working on getting their refunds. She has emailed the race twice, called, texted, and sent a Facebook message, all with no response. Now she’s contested the charges with her bank. Runner Carolyn Clinton said she registered herself and her husband for the race and was disappointed to hear it was cancelled. “I kept checking to see if my credit card was refunded my race entry,” she said. “At the beginning of November I sent a follow-up email with zero reply. I sent another one at beginning of [last] week with no response back. I even contacted Active.com to see if they knew anything to no avail. It is frustrating that the race organization advises you will be refunded, but do not follow through.” Nwadike’s company, Superhero Events, has received 12 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. All are from runners who signed up for races that were later canceled who hadn’t received the promised refunds. Two of those complaints were resolved to the complainants’ satisfaction; the other 10 were closed after 30 business days without a final response from the complainant or without the complainant accepting Superhero Events’ attempt to resolve the situation. Nwadike told Runner’s World last year he hoped the USA Half would become “the Boston of half marathons.” But in the race’s first year, only 3,000 runners signed up, well below the 5,000-runner cap. The race appeared in the Races + Places section of the December 2016 issue of Runner’s World, which went to press shortly before the cancellation.
