I worked for Kevin Burton in his accounting department; I would prefer to keep my identity confidential due to the unpredictable and sometimes violent nature of Kevin Burton.  During my employment there I felt as though he was extremely sexist towards women.  He constantly spoke down to me and was verbally abusive.  It was challenging for me to come to work today knowing that I had to face that type of abuse, but I am a single mother and the job market in Fort Myers is not very good.  He was very rude to all staff, including his own mother who worked really hard for him.  He would yell and scream constantly.  He offered little to no guidance in regard to your duties, yet he expected you to figure it out then yelled at you if it was not right.  I was made to cry multiple times by him.  


I was in control of payroll as well as all billing for all of his companies including Kevin Burton PA, A Plus Property Services, and his newest company K. Burton & Associates.    Kevin had a non caring attitude toward the vendors that we ordered services through.  He felt that they were expendable and if he didnt feel like paying them or he made a mistake in getting reimbursed for payments he would just flat out refuse to pay them.  When I left there were a lot of unpaid balances to the vendors.  Also he liked to give what he coined Reductions in Pay or RIPS if employees did anything he didnt like.  Keep in mind he was not very clear on what he wanted done so RIPS were totally on his discression.  He would instruct me to reduce the payroll due to each employee according to these made up RIPS.  Im not really sure if this is legal. 


As far as A Plus property services he owns that company 100%.  He would direct all his REO lawn care to this company, only outsourcing the less paying of far away jobs.  I too understand this to be a direct violation of the terms of listing REO properties.  I would also think that it is unethical to have this double dipping scenario going on.  I can say that he billed out 10-20K in lawn care each month to his own company.  If you are thinking about working for this man, make sure you do your homework.  Also if you do decide to work for him be prepared to be mentally beat down and treated like trash.  He has no appreciation for anyone who makes him successful.

To Barabra Sharp....None of the issues were even addressed.  Just the same ole Kevin Burton style of BLAME BLAME BLAME...he never takes responsibility for his own actions.  Always blames others...Kevin Did own A plus properties as evident by the K-1, he did DIRECT all his REO business there.   This is a DIRECT violation of the listing agreements with the bank sellers.  As far as him yelling at you, Barabra Sharp, MOTHER of Kevin Burton.  I personally witnessed you CRYING from his verbal attacks on you multiple times.  You denying this just makes you look silly.  Everyone in the office knows how abusive he is.  He lacks complete respect for all women, including his own mother.  He verbally abuses all employees, why do you think there is such turnover?  I can understand why you BARABRA SHARP...KEVIN BURTONS MOTHER, would like to stick up for him, but you are not helping this man.  You are mearly ENABLING his behavior.  Either way, not my problem anylonger.  I have since moved on to bigger and better things.  Kevin Burton has THE WORST name in FORT MYERS, a lot of agents will not even show his lisitngs because of that.  He DEFRAUDS the asset managers by charging them for lawn services by a company that he OWNES 100%.  Bottom line, if you think that i am lying, go work for him and you will see for yourself.  As far as Joe Mocco, i am not sure who he is, probably after my time.  But i am sure he will see his fate eventually.  When i left the longest working emploee was 6 months...Again beware of the business practices of Kevin Burton.  Do a simple search on the Sherriffs website and you will see that he has a CRIMINAL past...

My name is Barbara Sharp. I am both a long-term employee and the Mother of Kevin P. Burton. There is no question, in my opinion, that these so called reports originated from one source; that of a very disgruntled, terminated employee trying to impersonate another former employee and business associate. This individual mistakenly believed he could charm his way into an ownership position at K Burton and Associates, and having failed to do so, is now spewing vitriol in all possible forums. The day after he was terminated, he went to the Board of Realtors, claiming to be the current Broker of Record for K Burton & Associates, as well as a corporate officer and part owner. He demanded all of K Burtons listings be moved from K Burton into his own brokerage. Unaware that he was acting in bad faith, the Board complied. After realizing that they had been lied to and manipulated, they immediately restored these listings to K Burton & Associates. Undaunted, he attempted once again to influence the Board, only to be refused. He then filed for unemployment insurance, thereby admitting he was solely an employee, not an officer and owner of the Corporation.

There is no doubt Kevin Burton made a mistake.  He believed in this person. After he was hired, Kevin heard rumors of this man's past involvement in mortgage fraud and other shady dealings. Some of his former friends and close associates are currently under indictment for RICO violations and multiple counts of grand larceny over $100K for each count. He, however, has not been indicted. One former associate I spoke to personally believed the individual to whom I refer rolled over on his partners and associates; and cut a deal with the Federal authorities, thereby avoiding prosecution for the same crimes. After this information came to light, Kevin questioned this individual, who then admitted his culpability, and confessed to having in fact done just that - cut a deal with Federal Investigators in order to procure a "get out of jail free" card. This admission, along with the discovery of many other "untruths", led to his termination, which in turn led to these unfounded and ridiculous attacks on Kevin Burton.

This man was hired to grow the company, a term I found to be vague and difficult at best to quantify. What grew, unfortunately, were his ego and greediness, exponentially. That he has nothing left but this pitiful attempt to smear Kevin Burtons work ethic and reputation is both typical and preposterous.

My name is Joe Mocco.  I currently work for K Burton & Associates as the manager of the REO and Accounting Departments.  My employment started on August 25, 2009. 

In my personal experience the company and Kevin has been very receptive to my needs.  I work a flexible schedule that allows me to take care of my children when my wife works evening shifts.  Within the last week my two older children were sick and I was allowed to bring them to work with me.  They were given a vacant room into which Kevin brought in futon for them to sleep on and a television.  In my experience a sexist person would expect my wife to take off work when the children were sick not create a calming place for them to rest.

I have never been turned away when I had a question as to how I was to perform a task or have been verbally abused.  I have never seen Kevin verbally abuse any employees let alone scream at an employee let alone his mother.

Since August 25, 2009 I have been in charge of payroll.  I have never been asked to reduce an employees payroll.  I had never heard the term RIPS until I read the complaint above.

There have been three invoices during my tenure here that a vendor has been turned away after services were performed.  The reason why the invoices were turned down was that the vendor did not supply the invoice within the thirty day period after services were rendered as required by the banks.   K Burton & Associates pays the invoices for the banks and is reimbursed for them if all conditions are met including submission of the invoice and payment within thirty days.  In these instances the vendors did not submit their invoices in time.  The vendors knew the time frames and simply made a mistake.  Their mistake should not be paid for by the company.  I have however seen the company pay invoices that were not submitted by a mistake on the companys behalf.  In these instances the company paid the invoice and no so called RIPS were charged to the employees paycheck.

 

I know nothing about A plus Property other than it was a money pit that was closed before my hire.

In conclusion K Burton & Associates and Kevin Burton that I know bear no resemblance to the organization described in the complaint.  I believe that this is a disgruntled former employee with an ax to grind hiding behind a web site.
