I applied for a personal loan online through people's choice (for my husband). About 3 days later my husband received a call from Kevin Edwards @ Highland Lending Services- Kevin said my husband was approved for a personal loan but that it was a secured loan. Kevin stated my husband was approvied for $5000.00 personal loan at 6% for 36 months. The only collateral that they needed was the 1st 6 months up from totalling $911.64 and that the next payment would not be due until 12/08. The payments would then be $151.94.

My husband called me thinking it was good news... so I gave him my fax number so I go look over the documents before my husband agreed to anything OR gave out any info. I thought sending money to someone was a little different and wanted to research the company. My husband called me back before I could research the company and said we had the send the money via money gram... I told my husband no. I don't send money grams because you cannot get your money back if something happens. My husband called Kevin back and said we would not send the money gram but that we could do a check or payment card. Kevin said they did not accept payment cards (visa, mastercard etc). and if we sent a check it would take 12 days to get our loan... I said that was fine but I still wanted to check out the company.

I googled Highland Lending Services" and found the reports about their scam. I knew it was to good to be true but even sending money to someone when you are requesting money from them seemed odd. If that was the case and it was a so called "secured" loan - the money should be taken out of the loan... so if your loan amount was 5000.00 and the fees were 911.64 your actual loan amount (given to you) should be 4088.36... that just makes more since.

I also checked out the BBB and found that 261 customers have requested info on this company... the BBB compiles info on companies and that info is listed... the info listed about Highland Lending matches everything the Rip-off reports say! Also, I found it interesting that it is ILLEGAL to request money from a customer for a line of credit or loan BEFORE disbursing the loan OR line of credit to them...

I hate that some were taken by this scam but do your research before jumping in... if you can't find anything on the company- take that as a sign.

For those who were scammed... file a report with the BBB!
