We saw this charlatan's infomercials on debt relief and natural cures on Sunday March 30, and like d**n fools we ordered the books. The first sign of trouble was when I ordered the book on debt elimination. The call turned into a 20-minute obstacle course of unwanted sales pitches for everything from entertainment coupons to life and disability insurance. At one point, I asked the lady on the phone why, if I was buying a book on debt elimination, she kept trying to get me further in debt by selling me things I didn't want.
After telling the lady emphatically that I didn't want the other offers, today - April 8 - we were barraged with phone calls from the offers we'd turned down. Every one of them stated that we had been signed up and that we had to call some other number to cancel.
When the books arrived, I began perusing them. And it became very clear very quickly that Kevin Trudeau is a kook and a crackpot.
One chapter in "Natural Cures THEY Don't Want You to Know About" confirmed this in spades. Called "Not Convinced Yet," it is a prolonged rant against corporations and the government, chock full of such wisdom as "There is no free speech in America" (page 230; okay, Kevin, who is forcing you to write this?) and "All movies, books, and television programs are controlled by a small group of distributors. It is virtually impossible to actively promote an independent movie, television show or book. This small group of 'elites' virtually controls the flow of information in this country" (page 235; I guess with all those FTC complaints we learned about after the fact, it would be rather difficult for a crook like Trudeau to market his junk.)
So the battle for refunds is joined. And obviously the "elites" who "virtually [control] the flow of information in this country" will encourage my spreading the story of this fraud on the Internet that they control. (Hey, Kevin! If the 'elites' control everything, how is it that your claptrap is all over the paid programming on the tube?)
