i own 1999 kia sportage bought it new and i had have had 4 wheel drive problems eva since. i brought it to the dealer about 7 times but they never fixed it. then i found out they was a problem with the front seals leaking on the vacume then 2 years later i searched on the internet for manule hubbs and i put them on myself and thats fixed the four wheel drive problem. the check engine light keep going on the dealer couldnt fix it. the front elec windows broke they came out of track.

this is an ongoing problem with the the muffler system pipe, i know the steel they use has cheap aloys and will deteriate over time faster than usual.

this vehicle has had problems ever since i owned it
i had a number that the dealer used to get tech help, i called the number and pretended to be from the dealership i asked the tech on the line what to tell customers about the 4 w drv problem and he laughed, stated that kia will never put in a recall on this problem.

he told me kia corp knew of the 4 w drv vacumme system leaking air because of the front wheel seals ,the seals also will let moisture in the hub ruining the bearings in wheels.. it happend to my kia.

i told the dealer about what i had found out and he threatened to sue me,i said i would like the opertunity to be in court please!!! never heard from kia or the dealer..

i think this kia corp need a class action suit i tried the lemon law in fall river,ma but i was so mad at kia the consumers help shut me down and told me not to call back.. so i an stuck with 15000.00 $ veh

For real results on your problems contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

(Dear Editor: I am posting this message on ALL KIA related reports, for safety reasons. The NHTS gets real results)

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationmission is to: Save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle-related crashes.

I filed a report on my 2001 Kia Sportage (faulty vacum hoses/torn solenoid-due to poor design)--and they called me back THE SAME DAY!! They are going to investigate the situation. This is not the first time that NHTS has gone after KIA-read the reports!! They slammed down on them for their cheaply made 4 wheel drive hubs (to name just one of the many junk parts that Kia makes).

Be sure to have all your service documents handy. Express how unsafe you feel driving a KIA. And please; if you have had a problem with the vacume hoses/solenoid--PLEASE FILE A REPORT!! Kia does not fix this under their crappy 10 year plan!!

Just type National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into any search engine-and put Kia in their place!

OK Sandi the report from the ihhs states," that the Sephia/Spectra got the worst car rating and if you go 40 MPH while in an accident you will sustain damages to most of your body parts. It was also broadcasted on BET.
By the way KIA has a 100,000 mile warranty and when you take youvehicle in to be fixed there is always a loop hole for them not to fix it that is all that I was saying.
Yes the KIA can go over 40MPH but they have a lot of systme problems and power problems. Read some of the other people on the website to see they have the same problems and the dealer should be accountable for any mistake on their part.

If you go 40MPH you will be injured.

Aimee, you may wish to rephrase your comment 'If you go 40MPH you will be injured.' The way it reads, if you're driving 40 mph, then you will be injured. I am no fan of Kia, and would never buy one of their cars, but I have seen them driving on the freeway, at well over 40 mph, and the drivers don't seem to be harmed.

And, if your car is 2 years old, or 2 months old, but over the warranty mileage, then any repairs would be your responsibility.

I am an owner of a KIA and no matter how you go in there they do laugh at you with "your problem." So you are telling me if they built a car and it is 2 years old and something goes wrong I, the consumer, should be held accountable??? We are talking about a new vehicle and the company fessed up to making the system crappy. I agree that KIA needs a lawsuit against them. If they know they are building crappy cars that fall apart they should be held accountable. I guess you do not understand our pain because I know you do not own a KIA becasue if you did you would be the first one to sign the petition on a lawsuit Dayle.

Allen I believe that they, The KIA company, are wrong and I know it doesn't make you fell any better but my car the Spectra got the worst rating as far as accidents. If you go 40MPH you will be injured. I called KIA to see if they would put me in something safer. I was told I bought it and I need to trade it!! So much a car for the people!!!

It's not a recall issue

I'm bringing my automotive experience into the fray here...

I can understand why the guy at Kia laughed. A recall is not something that there's a problem with, contrary to popular belief. A recall is for SAFETY concerns ONLY. Your AWD doesn't work? Annoying, but your life isn't in danger.

It is possible they can't get it to act up. At my dealership, we have customers complain about things all the time. 75% of these complaints can not be duplicated by the tech.

Did you explain why you think the AWD doesn't work right? Or do you just hand them the keys and say "It's broken, fix it." How do you know it isn't working? Do you have automotive experience?

There are corrupt mechanics out there, but I have a hard time believing that the whole dealership is out to get you.
