I am a 2 Kia owner. My wife's '03 Sorento broke down in South Carolina while visiting my daughter. My daughter has an '05 Sportage. The dealer says the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine. They say lack of maintenance caused the problem. Their estimate for repair was more than the value of the vehicle.

I took the car to another mechanic who discovered 2 problems that would have caused the timing belt to break no matter what. The water pump siezed and an idler pulley bearing failed. I am in the midst of the battle and could use some advice on what to say to the sevice manager that might help.

I have provided a receipt for a coolant flush as he requested. I have read some reports and it seems there is a widespread problem with warranty coverage. I'm willing to battle these guys with your help. Thanks.
