I ran into a situation toward the fall of 2014 in which I contracted for a puppy from Desarie Fletcher at Kika's Klee Kai. The contract contains a returns clause under which I sent the puppy back. It was my personal circumstances that caused the change, nothing that Desarie had done and nothing that I found wrong with the health or temperament of the dog. Desarie agreed to take back the dog, and so I shipped her back before the travel certs expired. The issue came when I received only $500 of the purchase price back, meaning Desarie kept both the dog and most of my money.

After consulting an attorney and receiving the opinion that 90% of judges would rule that she could not keep both the dog and the money, I took her to small claims court, where the judge ruled in her favor but did express concern about the returns clause. So she kept both the dog and close to $3000 of my money. It is outright theft, in my opinion.

I just want to warn others that this is how Desarie will treat them if she has the opportunity. I consider this unprofessional and, quite frankly, a tacky, despicable, and classless way to treat anyone, especially in what was supposed to be a professional setting.

It was especially disappointing because I had thought about this purchase for months and spent a lot of time researching breeds and breeders. Unfortunately, this experience has soured me on ever trying this again.

Sadly, after dealing with this nightmare, the adage about breeders not being the best people rings true. Adopt already existing dogs who need loving homes and put puppy mills like this out of business.
