We (me, my husband and out three children) went to this restuarant and have been going to this resturant for the last 5 years. I love the restuarant. Unfortunately, on one this particular night we were charged a grautity of $15.98! This was totally unexpected.

Now, I had paid the bill with cash. Then, (stupid) I reviewed the bill and asked the owner (Lisa) why did she charge me grautity for 2 adults and 3 children. She proceeded to inform me that grautity in Killeen Texas is usually 20% and that she was doing me a favor!

People, I almost passed out. But, I kept my cool and attempted to explain to Lisa that she had never charged us this before. And, that they (the resturant) charge grautity for people seating over four. I again attempted to explain to Lisa that I was not legallly obiligated to pay grautity.

I asked her to please show me in her menu were it was explained that I had to pay grautity for people seating over four? She could not.

I asked Lisa for my money back. Again, she would not.

I have been to this restaurant with 8 people or more and have paid grautity and have not had a problem.

This is a problem for me only because it was not right and not fair.

I just feel like this was a sneaky way to rob us. Now, on another occasion we (just my husband and I) sat at the hibachi table with six other people and we were all charged a grautity! When we went to pay for the ticket (grautity was $16.02) I said we will not be paying that! She said okay and took it off the bill.

So, I just wanted to let everyone know.....please watch your bill when you go to this place! I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau.....thanks for reading!

Are you saying you are a non-tipper?

I don't understand why you would object to paying a 19 percent tip. I generally tip 30 percent, so that would have saved me money.  Did you just not plan on tipping? Do you not realize that a lot of restaurant employees depend on tips? When I worked as a server, I was paid $2.13/hrly and if customers had not tipped me a decent amount, I would have quit. What would you do if you went to your favorite restaurant and there was no staff to serve you, because people like you don't want to tip? When dining out, you have to factor the tip into your budget. Can't afford it? Stay home.

It is on the menu

Habachi table has a 19% gratuity added to it.  It is on the menu under the habachi section at the bottom in normal print.  If it is on the menu and you agreed to the product that was on the menu then you agreed to pay that 19% gratuity.  Lisa probably didn't understand what you were complaining about or she would have been able to point out exactly where it is printed on the menu.  The fact that they took off the gratuity when you and your husband where there alone is tantamount to you stealing from them.  I agree you should always check your bill whenever you go out to eat but you should also read your menu before you agree to purchase from the establishment.
