Complaint Review: Kim and Ashlee's Cakes & Cookies

Kim and Ashlee's Cakes & Cookies Made and Atrocity of a Cake- no accountability Regina, Saskatchewan

This bakery is totally unprofessional.
Myself and my family commissioned Kim and Ashlee's Cakes & Cookies to create a cake in the image of  RCMP highbrown boots for my father's RCMP retirement party.
This was ordered several months in advance and they said "no problem!". They asked to have one of the boots so that they could more accurately sculpt and create them. We provided a boot.
Again: "No problem".

The morning of the party, upon pick, the cake looked NOTHING like the boots that we had requested. The cake looked deformed, melted, off-scale and sloppy. The staff did not even apologize after being told that the cake was unacceptable. The attitude at the time (an hour away from party time) was: take it or leave it.

We ended up buying sheet cakes at the eleventh hour from Safeway. A horrible disappointment.
When we attempted to contact the owner of the bakery for an explanation she refused to take calls and will ONLY communicate with us in writing. Shocking service.

After complaning further, we did recieve $90 in gift certificates. The cake was $250 dollars..and we had to throw it in the garbage.
Never do business with this bakery, they don't really want you to.

Who is being "rude and inappropriate"?

Did you read & understand any of what happened here?   Apparently not.   If anything is "rude and inappropriate" it would be the "take it or leave it attitude" and refusal "to take calls" on the part of Kim and Ashlee.    After all, according to the reviewer, the business/customer relationship was OK until the "take it or leave it attitude" came out.    What's a person to do when a business refuses to make a bad situation right when they're (the business) the ones responsible?    If this were an isolated incident we could chalk it up to 'everybody had a bad day'....... but it's not.      No doubt Kim & Ashlee have demonstrated the same unprofessional service & attitude to other customers when there's so much posted here & elsewhere about them.

To Vivian,

In regards to the very rude and inappropriate public disgrace towards Kim and Ashlee's bakery, I wanted to say how much I disagree with the way this was publicly addressed.  Judging by the crudeness of your comments, you seem to be a very critical person who enjoys the ability of hiding behind your computer screen and tearing apart commendable businesses.

I'm sorry that the cake you ordered was not up to par, and it's very unfortunate that it was such "a horrible disappointment" to your party.  Having said that, in my assumption that you are a mature adult, is it not a little extreme to butcher a local bakery's online reputation?

I've attended two parties where 'Kim and Ashlee' have provided VERY exceptional and professional service and absolutely decadent cakes - perhaps, had you tried your cake prior to tossing it, you'd have realized the same.

I would highly recommend you take your 90$ gift certificate and give it to someone who appreciates the difficulty of trying to make a dirty old boot look edible.

I just wanted to add a picture of the monstrosity and a picture of the actual boot that was to be replicated.
