Kimberly Lords @ Frigidaire Product Failure of a $2,000 Frigidaire French Door Refrigeraton Augusta, Georgia
Purchased a $2,000 Frigidaire French Door Refrigerator model # LGHB2869LF Sept 2010 & have spent $600 over the past 5 months on ice maker related problems involving both ice makers. Today tech support at Frigidaire gave up & declared that it could not be repaired & I was offered a 50% rebate if I purchased another similar $2,000 Frigidaire refrigerator. Let's look at the math: Original purchase $2,000 + $600 in repairs = cost of ownership of $2,600 for the 29 months before the unit was declared non-repairable. Now Frigidaire wants me to spend another $2,000 dollars on a similar unit & they will send me a 50% rebate after the fact. So now I would have another $1,000 invested in this refrigerator for a total of $3,600 for a $2,000 refrigerator. And if you look at other reviews the ice makers are a big problem as well as loud banging noises - all problems that I have experienced. And once FrigidIre pronounced the unit non-repairable they did not offer to replace the unit. They want me to buy a similar unit that according to most reviews say the ice makers and the noise are a big problem. If you are smart buy another brand. Stay away from this high maintenance beast.
You would think that a major company like Frigidaire which is owned by Electrolux could produce a $2,000 product that would last more than 29 months. And if they couldn't they would take care of their consumer. Basically all they said was you should have bought the extended warranty and since you didn't it's going to cost you a $1,000 to replace your refrigerator.
