In November '09 I came across a pet adoption fair located on Laurel Canyon and Ventura. After falling in love with a dog, I filled out an application and was surprised to find out that they were so eager to hand over the dog right then and there. I was given a copy of the dog's adoption application but did not have the proper microchip number or vaccination records filled in. I was assured that the dog had been vaccinated and after writing them a check for $250 for the adoption, that I would be mailed a copy of his vaccination records.
After 2 weeks went by, and several attempts to contact Laurel Kinder, the woman who runs the adoption agency, I was told that she could not find his records and that we could take her to her veterinarian to have him re-vaccinated. I jumped through this first hoop, took him to get his shots, but found that they would not give me a copy of his vaccinations since the vet visit was being paid for by Laurel Kinder.
It is now February, 2010 and I still do not have a copy of his vaccinations, his microchip number, or the proper papers to register him with the City of LA! She has been nothing but a nightmare to deal with and is a rip off! We should not have to pay a $250 donation fee for a dog that did not come with proper records. The vet that we took him too (Dr. Shipps Animal Hospital) was not cooperative at all either and each time I have called back they have told me that 1) They have no record of him coming in 2) They cannot give me a copy of his records since Laurel Kinder has to pick them and distribute them!
Laurel Kinder and her pet adoption agency is a SCAM and as much as I love animals and would all of the orphans to be adopted, she is not fit to have a non-profit organization that is unprofessional and unorganized!
