My family has been customers of KingSize and related companies (Lane Bryant) through three generations and for about 50 years that I know of.

Several months ago I receive a mailing bearing a KingSize logo asking me to complete a customer survey and to apply for Buyers Edge, which they implied was their own or a closely related discount/coupon service. I would not have considered such a request from anyone else but because of my long standing relationship with KingSize is completed survey and applied with Buyers Edge.

More about UMG Buyers Edge is on this site. The come on is that they will send you membership details and you will have 30 days free trial in which you may cancel the service and owe nothing. Naturally I never heard from them again until, after several months an $11.99 charge showed up on my Visa debit card. I called them and they agreed to remove the charge and gave me a confirmation code. The charge has not been removed.

I asked King Size specific questions about their relationship with UMG Buyers Edge. King Size does not respond to my questions but sends me boiler plate with UMG Buyers Edge number, that I have already called without having the effect of having the fraudulent charge removed. I did not expect and did not ask King Size to make the $11.99. I asked them to answer particular questions such as whether they had an ongoing relationship with UMG, whether they had seen reports about UMG on this site, who I might contact to ask them to review any continuing relationship with UMG and their policies about copromotions. King Size continued to ignore my questions and to send me the boilerplate about requesting a refund from UMG, which process I had already followed without result. It is as if they were using automated replies which hit on a keyword and sent related boilerplate. They never seemed to read my questions, if any actual person did read my complaints.

As a result I have asked KingSize to remove my accounts, remove my name from their mailing list, and remove information about my payment methods from their records. They refuse to removing payment method information.

I guess they were paid so much by UMG that they can afford to lose a lifelong customer.

KingSize Resovled

The money drawn on my debit card by UMG has been returned.

I have received email from the CEO of KingSize's parent company. He is in Europe and sending email by BlackBerry. He promises to address my issues when he returns to the US next week.

I believe this is a satisfactory resolution because I have my money back from UMG aka United Marketing Group aka Buyers Edge and I believe KingSize will address my policy, customer relations issues which I don't expect anyone to be able to deal with via BlackBerry.
