kirby/ I need to locate my papers for persons name.
I brought a Kirby G5 3 years ago. The Kirby guy came out to show
me the new kirby G5. I told him that I couldn't afford to pay what he was asking for it. He said he could he could give me a rebate which wasn't much. I believe my total price was about $1900.00 or so I would need to verify that with that loan company they set me up with that I still trying to pay off. I did ask him if he could go lower on the price since I am a single parent trying to make ends meet or if they have sales but he said that this was the lowest price. I brought because it really is a good machine and it really did help me and my son with our allergies but the price is outrageous.

When my trainer told me that it is illeagal to sell or buy Kirny machines online I knew it was BS. I looked on Ebay and found buy it now $612.00. Seller had a perfict rating..

also I have a bit more information for anyone else who wants to know some facts about horrible salesman training camps

I was called one night by a friend of many years telling me about the really good paying job she got. I was interested and also out of work. So I car pooled the next day and found out I would be doing Demo's for Kirby. I sat through the training and enjoyed my free lunches. On the last day of training. The agreement papers were signed for "Free training" "contractor disclaimers" and everything else I'm sure you all are familiar with. When I recieved my Kirby and took it home, I first read the papers I already signed. Turns out the Demo's I did this weekend probably wont qualify because I was never equiped the the "Customer Evaluation Form" or the "customer survey Form" both required for the Demo to quilify according to the contract I signed. This is Fine, I have very little time invested, and my carpets at home are clean :)

What concerns me is my friend and her father have already been sold into the hiring scam. They have already sold 3 Kirby machines to family members in thier practice demo's. I wish them the best of luck and hope they dont get scammed.

As far as the Kirby goes, If you put a filter on any machine they will pick up dirt and get dirty. Clearly the vacuums work because the bags do get full. Kirby just has a decieving marketing stratigy.

Next I would like to cover all the money promises. I am a very skeptical person the the first thing I did on my first break was look at the cars in the parking lot and I figured out what the "Teacher/Top Salesman/Interviewer" Was driving. It was a Neon. This office was runned down, dirty and had no computers. When I questioned about why there was no computers. I was told "We keep costs down to pay you more" okay sure...I didnt want to continue this conversation because he was pretty devensive...

The final thing I was told is how to turn a B loan into an A loan.. This didn't sound leagal at all... We were asked not to share this info because he didnt want everyone doing it, and his office wouldn't be "Number one in sales anymore"

Here is how it works.. If the Machine is to be sold at 1499 we would add 100 to it if the customer would fill out a check for 100 (down payment) from there we would drop the 100 back off the load, write VOID on the BACK of the check and fax this to the finance company to show comitment to the loan. and then give the chack back to the customer. this is a LIE to the finace company...

Yes We are "Gutter Rat" trying to get quick money. The class was full of lower class people getting of the City busses driving beatup cars and lack of education wich explains my typos and spelling errors, But I know what it is right and what is wrong... What the Kirby office on Federal in westmienster is doing to my friends is wrong... The Father was working manufacturing for 30 years and the plant closed down. My friend was just in between jobs. They also are from lower class neigborhoods and needed money bad. Now thier family is in dept another 6 grand becuase they sold 3 Kirbys in thier practice demos using these shisty sales meathods, and probably wont get paid for what they did, because like myself signed the contract that states "All DEMONstrations must be on demo evaluation sheets." and "The cunsumer reaction report or questionnaire for each demonstration must be turned in to the office with the pay per demo sheets no later than Monday morning before the meeting to be paid on Saterday" This is not fair and Dirty. No one in the class recieved these "sheets" we were all rushed through this paperwork. and did not have time to read it. I learned a lession from this.

I will follow up when I quit.

Kirby praises & learning to haggle

#17Consumer Suggestion

Wed, May 10, 2006

I'm a fan of kirby for many reasons. When my mother tried to rejoin the workforce sixteen years ago, after being a stay-at-home mom, Kirby was the only one to give her a chance. She's now a very successful HR manager for an engineering company in the silicon valley.

Another reason I love Kirby is how long their vacuums last. When I first moved away from home, I couldn't afford a new kirby, so I bought one at a yard sale and had it serviced. The thing is sixty-six years old and still working. The only reason I'm replacing it for a newer kirby is because I want the shampooing features and hepa filter.

Kirby is the vacuum equivalent of a singer. They work forever.

Before buying anything sold by a salesperson working on commission, it's best to research it online. I'd never buy at the first price they offer. Look online and you'll find much better prices on kirbies. I just found a new, but reconditioned kirby with all the attachments for $850.

The salesperson wasn't ripping you off with the price she first offered; she just knew she could sell it to you at that price, just like at car dealerships. A sales person is lucky if she sells a couple a month, so she's gotta make what she can off the commission. You just have to learn how to haggle. Never act too interested; be willing to walk away to buy from someone else.

They make you think you are entitled to a "free" carpet cleaning. So naturally the u nsuspecting consumer, usually in a low income neighborhood, gets all set for their cleaining. Then some sales person shows up in a suit?????

Quite odd, wouldn't you say.

He blows through the "cleaning" then calls his boss from their phone to "confirm" he was their if he can not get the sale. Then the boss goes to work on the consumer. How silly..... Find a real job

Hello, No i do not work for kirby, no i have never worked for kirby. But i have had dealings with the kirby company . My good friend (who shall rename nameless as to i dont have his permission) did work for kirby, and from all i have heard from him from his classes he relayed to me and stories i heard, He did not receive anything for a month of working for them, and i heard horror stories of the "free" gifts the salepeople have to pay for , and the 1900? the sales person signs the unit out to sell and if he cannot or does not return it what did my friend say 1000? so basically I would immagine 1k to be the limit. The requirements for making the mad cash.... how many was it? 20 some odd in home demos a month? basically you had to go door to door hopeing somebody lets you in , or you go to those people who signed up at shows and stuff but wither way the company takes advantage of their employees and those who are successful are lucky and or leineint with their conience. now i do agree that a legal contract is binding so 1900 was agreed on . personally i paid like 1000-1300 for my ulimate its a good vacume works well and i am happy for it , i paid what i was willing to for it but the bottem line is that the price is negotiable and the kirby coperation is quote unquote dishonest or at least misleading . thankyou for reading

I also worked for a Kirby Distributor and what your saying is such Bull s**t. You sound like those people that come to training class and expect to get paid for doing nothing, so you get pissed off and act like it's the companies fault. It you were in the business long enough you would know that Electrolux, Tri-Star, Etc. (the in-home demonstration machines) all cost more than a Kirby and the demonstration is based on false information not facts. There may be Kirby Distributors that are millionaires, but that's also because of smart investments with the money they do make, and it also is selling hundreds of machines per month. Just because someone makes alot of money in whatever business they do does not make them a bad person, it shows that they are dedicated to what they do and smart about the choices they make in investing, saving, etc. Don't down people that are hard workers and succeed in life. If that's not the choice you want to make with your life then so be it, but you don't see other people talking crap about you do you? If Kirby was such a rip off and bad company than they wouldn't be in business for as long as they have. You can't make everyone happy all of the time, but they do there best to take care of each and every customer that they have! Oh, and by the way an electrolux brand new runs about $2000.00 to $3000.00 and so does the Tri-Star. Their salesman make $1000.00 a sale, and they say that their demo is based on a lie, but they don't care because of the money they make,(this info came straight from the horses mouth)at least Kirby people know they are selling a quality product, and they do not only trade-in old Kirbys, they trade in all vacuums and donate them to charity, they don't make any money off of that!!!!!!!!

I have worked for the Kirby Co. for 13 1/2 yrs and not once have I ever seen a Kirby sell for $700.00! You say that the Kirby price can be lowered, of course it can depending on trade-ins etc. You act like it is wrong to negotiate a selling price, does that mean when you purchase a vehicle you should be able to pay what the dealership pays? Of course not! If all depends on if you have a car to trade in or a down paymnet. That's why it's called sales! The Kirby is a wonderful machine and no one MAKES you buy it!

Remember you can't make someone buy something that they feel they don't want or need. You also mention that everything above the $700.00 is basically pocketed. If your the owner of a company, you do pay bills to keep the company running, (electric, phones, TAXES, etc.) It's not all pocketed! If you don't want to purchase the product then don't. Don't purchase it then degrade the company because you did!

Kirby a good Vacuum, but the price can go WAY down.

#17UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thu, October 14, 2004

I used to work for the Kirby company, and the remark that he just made in the last rebuttal is what they teach you in the training class about how to sell a Kirby. The vacuums retail @ 1895.00 unless they've went up, but can go down to 700.00. The money in between that is the dealers and distributors, how much depending on how many vacuums they've sold. I've never seen one sold for any less than that though, and they try to make you believe that you can only get that price if you trade in a newer model Kirby, so that they "regain some of their lost proffit and because you are a loyal Kirby customer!" It's all a load of bull. And the person who made the last remark about not putting a price on health has obviously just started working for them and attended his/her first rally where they put you up in a nice hotel, feed you 7 course meals, and tell you all of their rags to riches stories because an employee who has been there long enough to be ripped out of their paychecks week after week because a deal went "chop shop" wouldn't be defending that company. If that many deals go bad, how are the distributors millionaires? The moral of this posting is to let the customers know that Kirby isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and an Electrolux works just as well, not as heavy, and more than half the price!

Eva,

You purchased the G-5, which came out to 1900 with the financing included. You agreed to this when you signed the contract. You do use the machine, and you also entail that it is a good machine. Also, you said it has improved the allergenic conditions in your home. Isn't that what you purchased it for? Can you actually put a price on health? Wouldn't it be safe to say that the Kirby hands down has done its job? Thank you
