There is supposed to be a lifetime warranty on parts. I paid $1,200 for a vacuum- stupid me- with the understanding I would never have to pay for parts. I would only have to pay for labor. They were going to charge me $53 for a fan that I can get for $14 delivered to my house. They said the traveling sales girl lied to me when she sold me the vacuum.

There is no lifetime warranty on a kirby and never has been.  Read your warranty information.  It's amazing that people sometimes hear what they want to hear instead of what is actually said.  It is currently three years (Kirby.com) and was two years when I sold them.  Warranty covers manufactured defects.  When I sold them (and I assume there still is but don't know for sure) there was a lifetime REBUILD AGREEMENT which stated that Kirby would rebuild a machine o he speciifcations that it had when it was new.  There was also a fire rebuild warranty in case it was destroyed in a fire.
