To consumer who got the vacuum with the hose"

That is a very old model. I'm guessing at least 10 years. No please understand I have been an employee for a distribution center of Kirby for 4 days now. We sell the new Sentria now and it works great. It still weighs in at 22lbs but they fixed problems like hard to push. They added a "Drive Train" Which basicly makes it so easy I had my 5 year old neice use it first day I could bring one home. I cleaned my house with it, Sister's house, and a couple aunts and uncles homes. It sure did take up the dirt from the mattess in every home. And we are clean freaks. So we are very happy with it.

Now before you think i'm some employee. I was. I have to be at work at 10 am today and its now 5am. I will be in there in the afternoon to return the vacuum and quit.

This company is a scam. No Employee papers were ever given to me yet the owner and "managers" tell me when I start work.... Yeah I don't think so.

I looked into how much people have paid for a Kirby and lowest I've seen is $800. Personally thats reasonable since it outperforms a Dyson and a Dyson ranges form $300 to $700 itself. My mother has a $500 oreck and it outperformed that. So $800 likely a steal. But hey not everyone buys $500-$800 vacuums. I sure as heck don't but I want a Kirby now that I've used one on my mattress and floors.

I don't condone anyone letting a door to door salesperson in their home. Time and Time again there has been reports of these seeminly friendly salespeople ending up being serial killers, child molestors, and rapists. Just never a good idea. Not saying they are Kirby Salespeople.

If someone is coming to your house to sell something they should have an appointment. The husband and wife should also be present at the same time as added security.

I as of today am no longer a Kirby Salesperson. I'm am my own dealer and salesperson. I do not sell $1800 vacuums. I sell $800 vacuums. Understand the price is still marked up as like your local Ford Dealer gets them from the factory they still must pay the factory for the cost to make the cars. And since you can't buy a car from a dealer and save alot of money you can't do that with a vacuum either.

Its just not good business to not make any money at all. Since such is true this is what any store practices.

Now anyone who is reading this article right now you may see a Kirby Flyer in your mail box pop up soon. I have tweaked these to fit my own standards for business. You will know its me because you have to call me to get me to come to you. The only "Door to Door" i'll be doing is mail boxes.

I promise a free rug cleaning. I promise a free mattress cleaning. But above all I promise not to pressure you into buying a Kirby. And the appointment will take less than 45 minutes unless you are keeping me there longer. I will even tell you not to make a decision that day and give you my contact information. You will only ever speak directly with me.

I read with interest the plethora of complaints against Kirby distributers, and can only take note nearly all complaints involve the misleading pie-in-the-sky (sales) hiring techniques. I checked in on this subject after buying a completely furnished house complete with a Kirby vacuum. The former owner had bought the whole works-shampooer, spray thingy and a box of unrecognizable other accessories. Not having ANY of my own household items (1300 miles distant) I was obliged to put the Kirby into service. The poor gal had paid around $1800. for this exceedingly (almost beyond practical use) appliance.

.

The vacuum cleaner actually does an outstanding job on the carpet. That said: I tossed the whole box of silly, useless accessories out. It must be manually adjusted for carpet pile thickness and/or bare floors. It is about as heavy as bag of bricks. It differs completely from normal vacuums in that the debris goes THROUGH the vacuum "pump" on its way to the bag. This does seem to benefit the suck power. "Suck"? Yeah- this overweight, overpriced appliance does basically suck-not referring to its intended use. Klunky, awkward and waaaayyyy too heavy.
