in july 2012, a young man knocked on our door selling magazine subscriptions. i answered, with my three year and five year in tow. the kids were unusually cranky and climbing all over me. when i heard what the kid at the door was selling, i simply said i wasn't interested. he didn't let that phase him and proceeded to tell my how it was helping "inner city kids". i told him i really didn't have time to keep going with the conversation (this as my two kids were climbing on me and really being a handful right in front  of him.)

he still wouldn't stop, finally i said we were going to have to wrap it up, i just didn't have the time. he responded with "hey man, you got to slow down. this aint russia, we don't have to always be rushin'. this is america, we take out time baby!" by this time, i really just wanted him to go away. so i tell him, listen, i'm not interested, please just go away. at this time, he's flailing his arms and literally shouting. "hey man, i hope nobody helps your kids when they get older, then watcha gonna do? i hope they end up in the ghetto and nobody helps them!. how'd you like dat?"

now i've just changed my position from annoyed to concerned. i tell him to leave immediately, and try to remember where i put my pistol. he stormed off the porch after throwing a couple cuss word at me, after which i quickly closed the door, and i watched him as he walked by my car in the driveway. i thought about calling the police, but was drawn back immediately to the kids behaving badly. i figured he was gone, it was over.

the next morning, my wife woke me up early to tell me that my breifcase and all its contents were strewn around the driveway. i ran outside, and found papers everywhere. my computer and dashmounted gps were missing. we contacted the police. they filled out a report. i told him about the incident but i couldn't remember the exact name of the company. only that it was some letters followed the the word "readers". he said if i see the guy in the neighborhood again, to let him know.

i have no knowledge of, nor am i insinuating that, there is any connection with klmn readers and the incident described above. i am simply reciting events accurately as they unfolded.

two months later, another young man knocked on the door with the same pitch. i wanted proof this time. i bought a magazine and paid for it with a check. the check cleared shortly after. the receipt reads "klmn readers services, inc. p.o. box 15187, chesapeake, va. 23328 phone (757) 818-9497. it is now over six months later, no magazine received. calls to the phone number are met with a recording, and has generated no call backs. i will pursue this the to the best of my ability.
