My husband purchased via our debit card a purchase through Hopewell promotions, Inc., for So called jewelry. He did not know that this jewelry was a scam.

This Co. was allowed in the Kmart stores to do their promotion sale by the Kmart Head quarters.

Consequently since we still did not know yet this jewelry was yet a scam my husband and I went back the second day and he purchased the silver set in cash, as well as other customers that bought the same stuff. None of those that paid cash received any receipt for their purchase. But the salesman was such a good talker it made you completely forget.

I since have contacted the jewelry Company as well as my neighbor and was very friendly and going to send us our money back with out returning the jewelry, and they would return our money in a few days.

Several days went buy and more calls were made and then the same lady we talked to said she never said that and did not send any money and we needed to return the jewelry. This was totally the complete opposite of what she had said and denied that she lied and was very nasty that I was upset and had raised my voice.

Since then I have contacted Kmart Customer Relations and they are sending a letter with this information to Corporate Headquarters. And she said they should be contacting me as soon as they get the letter.

We will see if and what action they will take in this matter. I hope that they will. Since they are responsible for letting these scams allowed in their store. This is surely not good for Kmart's business.

I will give them time to respond, since Hopewell seems at this time unwilling to make it right for our purchases.

One last comment, what is Hopewell doing with all the cash they took in? That is a big question. They are unwilling to remark on this matter.

Bad reviews are hurting you ablity to donate to charities?  I think the only charity you support is yourself. When my estranged mother send this piece of junk, I thought maybe it was some kind of a warped joke.

Return it if it is 'tarnished' - gold does not 'tarnish' and whatever this is made of IS tarnished. And the ". . . send it insured mail with $3.00 . . ."  to the "factory' for a replacement doesn't make sense because it isn't WORTH 3 dollars. I am pretty sure the 'factory' is your kitchen table.

There is some kind of plastic charm attached which doesn't even have the mold marks cleaned from it. I will give it to my neighbor's 4-year-old daughter later today.

i like how this title starts out " how it most likely started"... I still will not change anything to my origianal report considering hopewell industries. i however would like to add that i located my credit card receipt and a piece of jewelry that was purchased. and as i said before there was no receipt given for the cash purchase.

i know what happened and how the gentleman came off with his great talent for selling the product. he made you feel like this was a honest and it was on the up and up deal.

again, i can supply 3 other people that went through the same thing as i did. so lets get over this, this is what went down and i still will not change anything. and if the company did not give refunds then why did they do so ...i guess that i had made some statments that they could not deny, and they did not want me to take further action. so they gave me my refund.

i will not change a thing, the statment i made before stands!

I too purchased jewelry from Hopwell Promotions, in a K-mart, back in 2010 and I feel this report is NOT stating ALL the facts.

It was a promotional deal where seller described items and their benefits, then gave everyone the opportunity to buy these items. When we were handed the items we were also given a paper that stated if you send a piece of jewelry that tarnished or became broken back to Hopewell, no matter how it became broken(even if it was YOUR fault), they would replace it with a NEW piece.  It also stated there would be "No Refunds"!

I have sent back a piece I had broken while trying to adjust it and they DID replace it!  I feel it is "unjust" for someone to have filed a report such as this if they didn't specifically ask for a printed receipt in the first place!  If they didn't trust the company selling the item they should never have bought it!

How come this company doesn't have a website?

It seems that they were only cleaning up their online image to test with Walmart before Mother's day. 2013

call from Hopewell about jewlery scam

i received a call on Jan 16, 2013., Approximately 2 years later after i filed a report to this site. The company apologized that they just heard of this problem!!! I am sorry but give me a break they just want their reputation back and as far as i am concerned their apology means nothing....
I asked them if they could prove that their jewelry is not fake and if they could prove that the monies that they received in cash was reported to the irs ( since their was no actual receipt) they had said that the paper that came with the jewelry was the receipt, that was no receipt, excuse me but i know what a receipt is, duh!!! So therefore i am not willing to change my mind and take this off this site.
i said i was sorry but that is the way i feel. i was very honest with them when they said they would refund my monies. i stated we finally got the monies back but thank you. there is more to this than my return of the money. there is more to this and i don't feel they can prove that they are an honest and trustworthy company. being nice is good but not enough to change my mind without proof that they can not show me!!!!!
Sorry but i am here to help protect those that are still out there so they hopefully will not get scammed and are not buying something that is not what they say it is...

Customer Refund Rebuttal

#7REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, January 16, 2013

As owner of Hopewell, we pride ourselves on the quality of our merchandise and our guarantee.  This report disturbs us because we have had over a million sales within the last 40 years and never had a unresolved complaint filed against us online or otherwise.

Cathy in Waverly, New York filed a Rip-off Report in August 2011.  In the report Cathy stated that she had not received a receipt, however, we refunded the money to her even though we weren't convinced it was our merchandise.  There are several other companies that sell the exact same product in K-Mart stores.  Also, Cathy states in the report that her husband purchased jewelery via debit card.  In this instance, a receipt would have to have been printed which they failed to furnish.

In the name of good-will we refunded her money anyway.  Unfortunately, the complaint is still on Rip-off Report and we would like nothing more for it to be taken down.  This kind of complaint not only hurts us, but the charities we support as well.  Thank you.
