Complaint Review: Kmart

Kmart Refuses to honor posted return policy--offers gift cards only Neptune Beach Florida

  • Reported By:

Despite a printed and posted return policy to the contrary, Kmart refuses to give anything but a gift card upon a return of merchandise with a gift receipt. The merchandise was not seasonal, not opened, and was accompanied by an unexpired gift receipt (which was more than 10 day old--solving any issue of payment by check)

Local store (Angela Thompson) said it was their standard procedure to only offer gift cards (without exception), even though it is not posted in their policy. Local store personnel referred complainant to corporate, corporate said it was the store's decision. Round and round we go. Corporate personnel, James and Freda, refused to transfer the call to a supervisor, despite repeated and firm requests for a supervisor.

These folks are THEIVES.

That is a LIE. It is NOT up to individual stores to pick and choose what policies they obey. The gift receipt itself is a written contract between store owners and consumers-- it counts as a valid receipt and is to be honored as any other receipt. Have you called corporate on your own? Here's the customer service number.

I'm sorry you've been treated this way-- that is NOT official Kmart policy.
