A friend purchased a RCA Tv for me from Kmart about 8 months ago. This past weekend the tv stopped working. When calling kmart to take it back they told me that this tv was a model from 2001 and they wouldn't fix it. If this was a model from 2001, why did they sell it to me in 2004? I didn't have the receipt to prove when I purchased it since someone else had purchased it for me. Although, they told me even if I had the receipt they would only cover it for three months after the purchase date. I think this is very crappy business practice. I wasn't asking for the money back, I was asking them to replace the tv.

My problem isn't that the store won't replace it as much as the store denies every selling me the tv and RCA claims that they shouldn't have sold me one that old because it wouldn't be good on a warranty anyway. I unfortunately don't have the warranty - the person who bought it is ill and not able to actually converse with about the subject.

You want K-mart to replace a TV that is 8 months old? That is why the manufacturer has a warranty so try taking it to a warranty center. They will also want to see a receipt.
