Knight's Moving & Hauling - Top Dog Movers ARE THIEVES, LIARS, CHEATS, ILLEGAL PORT RICHEY Florida
This company is owned and operated by the 2 owners Frank and Amy Knight. On several occasions I witnessed them stealing items from customers who entrusted the owners to store their belongings in the warehouse. I witnessed them overcharge the customer because the customer was elderly, they run rental trucks out of state in plain clothes because they are not licensed to travel interstate and they SAY they are a drug and alcohol free workplace but yet you go to their warehouse and you will find and actual BAR in their warehouse and beer bottles all over the place. Their trucks are junk and they hire FELONS to do the moving.
They CLAIM that all their employees are background checked, well they are. Thats how they know about the felony charges so they offer the employee a lower wage because they know that no one else will hire them. They get the employees to assist them in the theft of the items from their storage warehouse and then on Sundays, Frank has a garage sale so he can pay his personal bills and buy beer. Their kids go unfed and wear ratty clothes because beer and cigarettes are more important to them. They are even collecting assistance from the state of Florida because they lied on their paperwork so they could recieve money and food stamps.
What they do is tell the cutomer to pay in cash so they dont have to claim it. The paperwork just magically gets lost. No records, no moves. If you plan on using a moving company, stay away from Knights and Top Dog. If you use them after reading this, you'll be sorry.

I think this is completly redictulas and untrue. I have bin to their house and the warehouse. there is no bar in the warehouse, only moving equiptment, a fridge and coustomers things that are neatly stacked in storage for later moves. Frank and Amy do not need to steal by any means! their children all wear nice new clothes, such as old navy and holister, things i never got to wear as a child. they also have 2 fridges and a frezzer full to the top of name brand foods. i could only hope that I could do for my kids as they do for theirs. If you do not pay your storage fees you have so many days to pay it after they notify you or your stuff becomes thiers. If you dont like that then you shouldn't sign the agreement! After the stuff belongs to then they can yard sale or keep what ever they want. If you dont like what they charge then dont agree to that either. The trucks are plain moving trucks nothing special, but u dont need dvd players and rims on a moving truck. They also have blue knights moving shirts that they all wear with every move. Weather they drink and smoke ciggarates is none of any ones business they are adults and work for thier money and can spend it how they like. I have never bin to thier house or ware house and seen beer bottles anywhere. I couldn't tell you if they hire fellons but I know all there employes are trained and licionsed. Also they deffently dont get any type of state assistance, that is redictulas to try and say. Many other people do get assistance and that does not make then lesser of a person then you! I on many occations have seen paperwork along with checks on the desk ready to be filed and neatly paper cliped together. To me this sound as if this was someone who was fired, or someone that should of did thier move their self. You cant please everyone, especaily people stuck up enough to slander someones name and business. I would love to go to this persons home and buisness and pick them apart. but unlike them i have better things to do with my day. I was born and raised in baltimore city, md and I could only apreciate Frank and Amys life style and work ethic. If you think for what ever reason they are living unfit, you should come to baltimore and see just how good you rich florida people have it.

Knight's Moving/Top Dog Moving has always and will always provide an honest, fair, quality service to all of our customers.
No one at our company has "stolen" so much as a penny from any of our customers.
Knight's has never and will NEVER tolerate illegal behavior by any mover that works with us.
We have NEVER taken advantage of any of our customers "seniors" or not.
All of our movers ARE background checked. If an applicant has lied on their application they are discharged.
Our movers have always been paid in full with a fair, agreed upon, competitive wage.
We have 4 beautiful well cared for children who excel in school-on the playing field and in the community.
You can read the demeanor of this poster's personality and see the anger he holds within himself. I wish the next company the best if they have to deal with this supposed "former" mover. If it truly is a competitor posting on us, well I wish them the best too. If this is the worst ever reported on my company then we must be doing something right. It could have been the truth instead of fabrications to try to insult Team Knight and hurt the company. I thank you Ripoff Report for the advertising and keep up the great work seeking moving companies who really DO take advantage of others.

I am posting in regards to the posting in which the manager was supposedly speaking from past experience with Knight's Moving in Port Richey Florida. Though it may seem as though I was the OP, I most certainly was not. I have not, nor would I ever speak ill of another company or its practices on a website such as this and most definately I would never bring Frank and Amy's children into the subject. Whoever posted the before messages did so impersonating me and this is to set the record straight that I did NOT post any material of any kind before this posting, regarding Frank and Amy Knight. My name is Sean and I was their General Manager at one time. I did leave their employment and my reasons were strictly personal in which they were understanding and of. Any of the statements made in the previous posting are untrue and I can not state for a fact one or the other. I currently own my own business and I send my customers on referral to Knight's Moving and by doing so I have the imprression that the customers will be well taken care of. I have had no complaints as of yet from any of my customers that were sent to them. My suggestion to any future customers that may not be sure whether to use Knight's Moving or not, should call them or go directly to see them in their office. Meet with them and make an informed decision on your own and NOT rely on past employees or competators who seek to defame a company's reputation by hiding behind a internet posting.

I was the manager who replaced the before mentioned dispatcher "Tom" and I can say without a doubt that I saw Frank and Amy's business practices first hand. I saw the "behind the scenes" things that were said and done and I never agreed or participated in any of them. I actually spoke out to the both of them regarding these matters and tried to make some possitive changes for the company.
As far as the theft comments goes, yes I did witness theft there. Frank has a habit of looking through storage customer's belongings and taking what he wants or thinks is valuable. I guess he figures that he'll deal with the issues later on when a customer repoprts the items missing. As far as the no pay issues go, well I am well aware of those as well. I remember the previous poster who spoke of an email I wrote to him questioning the owed amount of past pay and I remember meeting him on one occasion after I first started there at the company. I remember he was a very pleasant person and seemed to have his stuff together. He carried a laptop and usesd it as a GPS I believe, if my memory serves me correct. I cant remember his name though as its been a while since that meeting and email also.
I remeber speaking to Amy regarding the email and the amount owed to him and she verified to me as well that the money was owed to him. Amy assured me that the issue would be dealt with immediately as I felt it was "bad business" to not pay someone regardless of the companies reasons. She spoke highly of the ex employee and said he did earn the money and she would send the check out the following day. I asked her the next day if the check was sent out to the ex employee and she stated to me "yes, I sent it out this morning."
Shortly after that, I left the employment of the company,MY CHOICE, because I witnessed too many bad acts of business on their part. I was the manager and yet Frank continued on a daily basis to sabotage my efforts to improve the quality of work and customer service. I left the employment with them owing me money as well which took me several weeks to finally collect from Amy and ONLY AFTER repeated posts on Craig's List stating that they owed me money and would continue to post until I was paid.
I recieved numerous threats and threatening emails from the other owner Frank regarding the owed pay and that only showed further proof of the quality that Knight's Moving/ Top Dog Movers operates with. For Amy to say that I made things worse than Tom, well thats just stupid on her part. I worked on several large accounts for them and secured several which I acctually declined after I parted. Thats right, I declined a couple VERY LARGE delivery accounts because I didnt want MY NAME attached to their company when they screwed things up with these retailers.
The other poster who is owed money is not the only one who is going without their money. I brought people into the company who were never paid either and they came to work for me because they went on my word. I had to pay these people out of my own pocket just to maintain my reputation with these people who trusted me to keep my word. Keeping your word is just good business,period.
I hope you do finally collect your owed money but unfortunatly the sad truth of the matter is, you'll probably NEVER see a dime from Frank and Amy Knight. I wouldnt bother trying with their new manager or whatever he is. His name is Eddie and he is NOT a manager of any sorts. Good luck on your pay issues. I suggest small claims court. I was going to do that had she not paid me either and I was looking forward to putting a lein on their business assets. Should you decide to take the matter to small claims court, let me know and I'll be happy to write you a statement or you could most likely just use this one.

I have kept quiet long enough. I worked for this company back in October, 2007, for only 5 days. I'm still waiting on my final paycheck for the last 2-days. All I get from them are excuses.
I finally posted a lengthy article regarding this experience on my personal blog... here is the short (I hope) version:
The company advertises frequently on the local craigslist under Labor and Movers section - search for them under "Services". I found them on craigslist advertising for drivers back in October. I was out of work for a short time prior to this.
The "interview" and application process was short. They needed a driver for a new freight hauling division. I have a spotless driving record, CDL class A license, and decent employment history. The company assured me they only ran legal - legal hours, legal weight, etc. I was not going to commit myself to a company, like so many out there, which forces drivers to run illegal and face heavy fines.
On October 25, I was dispatched on my first "run". From New Port Richey (NPR) to Bradenton, to Medley (Miami), then to Ft. Myers and back to NPR. I logged 638 miles, which is a really good start! The light appears at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. At home, the family is happy I am earning money. Day 2, October 26, another run from Alachua to Winter Park and back, or 411 miles. I had the weekend off.
Monday, the 29th, I went from Tarpon Springs to Orlando and back 245 miles. This isn't good, but "Tom" the dispatcher reassured me, each day, that the computer showed freight going just about everywhere. I offered to drive out-of-state, where there was more freight. Tom thought there was more than enough in-state to stay busy and make a lot of money.
Tuesday, October 30th, saw a renewed burst of income-swelling miles: Medley (Miami) to Orlando and back to Miami and Orlando (overnight here) then back to Miami and NPR Wednesday! Ok, break this down. Day 1 = 561 miles. Day 2 (the return) = 615 miles. Not bad at all! There was a problem which I addressed with Tom while I was in Miami. Now, let's get to the legal part. The load he booked was 22,000-pounds. On an 18-wheeled semi-truck this would be a piece of cake. However, on a 2-axle Budget rental truck, with a maximum weight rating of 26,000-pounds something doesn't sound right. The truck itself weighed about 14,900 pounds. The truck plus the load weighed 36,900-pounds. Tom understood this but offered no other option - it had to be done. This load was going from Miami to Orlando. So much for operating "legal".
By 5:30AM, on October 31st, the destination (consignee) was ready to take the shipment. They were surprised that we would send such a small truck to carry this load - designed for a semi-truck. Normally, they would drive their electric forklift onto the trailer and unload the pallets. Luckily, they had manual forklifts I could use to unload the pallets onto their dock for them. After this fiasco, it was time to reload in Orlando, head to Miami and eventually get back to NPR.
On my first, and only, paycheck, Tom calculated 1,294 miles. After checking my personal (Excel spreadsheet) records, I found that I was not paid for the 30th and 31st - 1,176-miles! Suddenly, there was no work for some time, over a week, which meant no pay. On November 9th, I Emailed Amy, the owner, with the details of my mileage. By December, there was still no response. I wrote to another address I found for the company on December 10. The new dispatcher, taking Tom's place, replied assuring me this matter would be looked into. According to him, Tom lost some documents and billing paperwork. (Remember this)
Why Email? Why not just call? I like the "paper" trail left by Email. On my blog, I quoted from their Emails - in their own words.
On December 12, the new manager Emailed me after he talked about the matter with Amy and explained that I should have my check within 7-10 days. Oh, and they are no longer hauling freight.
Happy New Year! It's 2008 and I'm still owed over $300 by this company. On January 8, I fired off another message asking for an update on my check.
On January 12, Amy responded. She explained that the new manager caused them more problems than Tom. "The good news is that I am booking jobs so I should have your check to you soon." she wrote.
We are now into February and I am still waiting. When is "soon"? The freight I hauled arrived as expected and without damage. I was honest and expected the same in return.
Again, I cannot comment on this company cheating or stealing items, as alledged in the post here. I did not work in the "moving" part of the business. I hauled freight. I can say, however, that their website displays the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce logo as a "membership", but I checked with WPCC and their membership expired last year. They do have a good rating with the Better Business Bureau, if you give much credit for that (I don't).
