I recently received a credit card from Kohls. I applied so I could get a 20% discount on my purchase.  I typically do not shop at Kohls and this rare visit resulted in a purchase of about $50.00.  I paid the card in full the first statement and did not use the card again for several months.  Then another small purchase.  Paid in full.  etc.  I pay my bill online and realized I had paid a day or two late and was charged a heavy late charge. (26.00)  Pretty hefty since the balance was usually under $50.00.  But my fault for not paying closer attention to the due date.  On March 18th when I went into my account to pay I realized the due date was the day before.  Late again, darn.  I decided since I was going to have to pay the $26.00 I'd just wait until the next payment was due. The bill specifically read the payment was due April 17.

On April 20 I received a scary phone message, it stated, This is not a sales call, there has been a rise in crime in your area... then the call disconnected.  My caller ID identified the call as Kohls..  I immediately called the number 262 703-1977.  I was certain they were calling to tell me I was the victim of identity theft or that my card had been used fraudently.  I was connected to several different people none of whom could explain the calls origin.  Despite my obvious alarm, each person I spoke with quickly changed the subject and wanted to discuss my 3 day late payment.  I became quite frustrated and angry that they would not address my concerns, telling them until I could get some answers regarding whatever crime had been committed with my credit card I did not wish to chat about anything else.  I was hung up on a couple of times and after 2 hours of desperate phone calls to Kohls I was informed that was a collection call!!!   A hardcore collection call for a payment 3 days late???  Suffice it to say I paid the bill in full and cancelled the card.  I called Kohls corporate and spoke with Colleen Cary who assured me she would look into the matter.  I never spoke with her again.  I filed a complaint with the Wisconsin BBB and Kohls responded that I was mistaken, that was not a Kohls telephone number and they had no record of me.   Buyer Beware.. Kohls is a high priced Walmart.  I paid big $$ for a bath rug and some towels which was not the quality at JC Penneys for half the price.. Won't be doing business with ohls again..

The call didn't originate with Kohl's. I get this call frequently from different spoofed numbers. It's a sales pitch for a security system.  Sometimes, just for fun, I'll press the number to get an operator and let them go through their spiel.  Then I tell them my security system is made by Glock and it beats anything they're offering.

I haven't been able to get them to stop calling me, and it's annoying.
