I spent $16,785 on KraftMaid Cabinets I purchased from Home Depot.

After hanging approximately 2/3 of the cabinets we noticed a door hanging crooked on a cabinet. It tured out to be a stripped screw on the hinge.

We continued to hang cabinets and as we did we began to see there were bigger problems than just a stripped screw. In fact it took us a few weeks to realize the enormity of the problem.

My KraftMaid Cabinets have over 150 splits in the faceframes doors and drawers. There were 50-75 stipped screws on hinges and drawer rails. Numerous drawer head adjustment screws were laid over crooked, and about a third of the knife hinges were installed all cockeyed causing the doors to hang crooked. Alot of the screws hanging the doors to the faceframes had to be repositioned in order to adjust the door.

My dad spent 55-60hrs. fixing things that really had to be fixed to make my cabinets look nice to the trained eye.

The KraftMaid rep. admitted there were problems with my cabinets back in the latter part of March at which time I ordered more cabinets and returned others that were not right for my application. A few weeks latter he insulted me by offering to give me one of the cabinets I reordered as compensation. The cabinet cost $169+tax.

Here it is the 23rd day of June and I'm still waiting on the doors that were wrong on my reordered cabinets. The KraftMaid rep. has offered me $1500 in restitution [which barely covers the cost of labor to fix the problems] with the stipulation that I sign a waver to any warranty on all my cabinets, including cabinets that were reordered after the problem was brought to there attintion.

In closing I would like to ask the CEO's at KraftMaid a question. Why do you invest such hard wook and money into building such a beautiful cabinet and then SCREW IT UP hiring some two-bit laborer to shove screws into hardwood that has never seen a pilot-hole. I've had a lot of frustrations building my new home for my family but KraftMaid committed the biggest crime of all.
