I purchased my 2007 Jeep Compass in April 2018. 4 months later my car wouldn't start and I took it to my mechanic who noted that there was an issue with the oil switch that needed to be replaced. In January 2019 I was contacted via text message by the salesman who sold me the car stating that the dealership does "fake safety inspections" (which I have in writing).

In March of 2019, there was issues with the car running. I took it back to the mechanic, who found there to be several issues with the car. I was sold a car that I could have been in a major accident with.  Per my mechanic, the dealership knew about the issues and prior to selling me the car, willfully knowing that my car was unsafe to drive and that I would not be able to pass an emissions test. The issues are listed below:

Subframe

Lower control arm w/ ball joint

Front quick strut monroe

Ignition coils

Magnaflow Catalytic converter

Oxygen Sensor

Sway bar links

Evap code repair

I am seeking repayment of the costs to repair my car, totaling $3897.65

It is very typical on this site that when a poster doesn't get the response they want they go to the typical "You must work for them". Well contrary to your belief the ones positing here do not work for the company unless they specify they do.  I can tell you that me as well as the other poster do not work for this dealer. In fact I personally have been accused of working for numerous companies including banks, tow companies, car dealers, and even the Chief of Police of a small town. The fact is that this is a PUBLIC web site and the PUBLIC may respond, and the PUBLIC may not always post things you agree with.

As for the car, you have posted nothing that shows you would be "entitled" to any sort of repairs or compensation. You bought an 11 Year old car that worked fine for until you had to have an oil switch replaced 4 months after you purchased it by your mechanic. Your next issue didn't happen until almost a year after you purchased this car(which is now 12 years old and has the additional miles you drove) before it had the next problem. You say you took it back to the mechanic who found multiple problems with it. The issue here may be with your mechanic, as why didn't your mechanic find these problems back 4 months after you purchased the car?  How come they didn't find it during any of your regular maintenance visits over the last year?

That not withstanding, you mentioned nothing about purchasing any sort of extended warranty. Which means you purchased the car "As-Is" and the second you purchased the car anything and everything wrong with the car is YOUR responsibility.

I would also wonder about your "salesperson". Why would he contact you by text 9 months later? Did he contact every one of his customers? How did he still have your information? Does he have any proof to this? Would he go to court and swear under oath that they faked inspections?  Does he have any proof that they faked out YOUR inspection?

I’m not asking for free warranty service. I’m asking for the costs to repair an undriveable, unsafe vehicle. That is gross negligance on your part. Had you disclosed that my car was basically unsafe before I bought it, I wouldn’t have bought it. If you think that I wasn’t scammed, then why was I invited to come in so I could trade my unsafe car in to be put into a brand new car? (I would never return to the dealership). It’s good to know that you have the time to respond to a website, but do not have the time to respond to emails and phone calls. Your lack of customer service skills is showing for everyone who reads this to see. Good job.

Unfortunately your lack of grammar and punctuation makes it difficult for me to understand what you’re trying to convey. I’m going to have to assume that you work for the dealership, which I find quite amusing as you posted your "rebuttal” anonymously. As such, if you do in fact work at Kunes, please kindly respond to my email that was sent to the dealership on Saturday 3/9/19. K, John? Thanks

They Are "PROBLEMS"!

You keep over using a word and over using a phrase or words in this society is common place. What you experienced are PROBLEMS. They aren't "issues"! Did you buy the car with a warranty or was it an "as is" sale? If it was "as is", you would have signed a disclosure indicating YOU agreed with that condition. As such, you are not entitled to free warranty service.
