This is to warn everyone who is using Kwik Kar in Lancaster about their services. I had a terrible experience with them. I had just come back from Virginia Beach, Va from a deployment and needed to get my oil and fuel filter changed. On December 19th, I asked the guy for the cost of the fuel filter replacement and he told me $29.95. I asked Are you sure? His response was Yes.. That was strange because every place I went to in Virginia charged me between $80 and $100 because it was very tough to get to. They drove my car in. About two minutes later, one of the mechanics asked me to come out there he wanted to show me something. He pointed in my radiator and said that I needed it flushed. He told me there was nothing but water in the radiator and it would damage my truck if I didnt get it flushed. I waved the yellow flag after that because I just added 50/50 antifreeze prior to leaving Virginia. I told him no and he told me that I had to get it done very soon. I went back inside and 10 minutes later he was finish with my car. I asked the clerk did they change my fuel filter and she told me yes. So I asked for the fuel filter that he removed. About two minutes later he brought this crushed fuel filter and said I should have told him I wanted the fuel filter before he crushed it. I have a 2002 Ford Explorer. Everywhere I had gone to in Virginia; they took about 30-45 minutes to do it because its located on the passenger side, under the door near the front wheel well. It is behind a curved shield called the fuel filter heat shield. Its a pain to get to because Ive tried it. I was skeptical from that point on. If I learned anything for the military, it was to follow your instincts. My instincts told me If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, then by golly its a rat. So, after all the Christmas shopping was done and January rolled around, I decided to buy new tires for my truck. I went to Firestone to get them aligned. I was chit chatting with the guy there and I happened to think about my fuel filter and asked how much it would cost to change it. Believe it or not, he told me $75 mainly because of labor. I asked him would he take a look at it because it was supposed to be changed in December. He looked at it and said it was very dirty and it doesnt seem like it was changed a month ago. I asked him to change it and give me the old one. They guy took out the fuel filter and looked up the part number along with my vin number. He came over and asked me was I ever in Virginia because the part number along with my Vin number shows the last time it was changed was a Firestone in Virginia. He looked it up because he said Kwik Kar shouldnt be using a part with a Firestone part number. I told him that is where I just came from. So he gave me the part and sent me on my way. I went to Kwik Kar and confronted them while the owner was there. They were trying to tell me that all part numbers are the same for fuel filters. I guess the guy didnt know that I worked in supply in the military. I guess he figured I was just some dumb customer. I said that you all took 10 minutes to change my oil and fuel filter. The Hispanic guy who did the work said that they were faster than everyone else and just because everyone is slower than them doesnt mean that they didnt do the work. So I asked him to show me their fuel filters for a 2002 Ford Explorer and when he brought them back, none of the part numbers matched the one I was holding. The owner had to go smoke because he was finally exposed. He came back and offered me my money but I refused. I told him Id rather take him to court so he can get a bad report. I also told him I will notify the Better Business Bureau so they can get a bad report. There is no telling how many other people are getting done like this and it has to stop NOW!!!!!
