I bought 3 stack rings from Berge Torossian of L'Atelier Inc. This is a family owned business and they are dishonest. Two of the rings were suppose to have half carat diamond stones and one a sea water pearl. All three surrounded by 12 diamonds each for a total of 36 diamonds. I paid $5400 to resell, and his son said they were worth $6500. I brought the three rings back because I didn't have enough information to sell them online. The receipt was a one liner. I requested a refund and also a GIA certificate. L'Atelier held the rings for 3 days. When my mother and I picked up the rings, we noticed the stones were smaller and lacked luster. Mr. Torossian was very angry at us and kicked us out. We then went to a jeweler two floors up, who scanned the "diamonds" and said they were fake. He had scanned them with a device. My mother asked the independent jeweler how much they were worth, and he said -- less than $500. He later admitted in court that he had "dissolved" the rings.

I filed a complaint with major angencies NYAG, Department of Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau. I later found out from DCA that he is not even a licensed jeweler. Buyer beware, these people are very dishonest. If you want to buy real diamonds, buy them from a reputable jeweler such as T******'s. I compared the diamonds physically from L'Atelier with T******'s and the diamonds are much brighter. They clean your rings and photograph them -- peace of mind. Berge Torossian will tell you he worked for Cartier. Nevertheless, I was appalled by the device proving he swapped the diamonds.
