I had an even WORSE experience and thought I was the only one. I paid $65.00 in advance on the street for this "wonderful" package of services -- hair, nails, massage, wax -- the works -- for $65.00 paid in advance, then a $15.00 service charge once you get there. It's tough to find a good deal like this in the city and I was sick of paying upwards of $200 for my hair, let alone all of those other services, so naive little me decided to try it out -- all I'd be out was $80.00 and if I liked it I thought it would be worth the try.

So I get to this SUPER SHADY joint and I should have left right then, but I didn't. I sat down for a "preliminary consultation" and once I looked up from my magazine she was putting highlights in my hair -- I didn't even ask for them, as I was letting them grow out. She didn't even ask me what color, and then she started chopping away on my hair and didn't ask what I wanted. I never got my nails done, no waxing, and no massage -- but the fat owner was singing on the microphone the whole time and smoking away (isn't that illegal in public places in New York?) -- all of these shady mafia-esque pictures were hung on the leopard-print walls and these two guys stood behind the cashier when they slapped me with a $170.00 bill.

I wanted to scream, but was really intimidated by these guys (too shady to mess with, believe me). I did ask about all of these other services for which I purportedly "prepaid" and they said I'd have to come back another time, even though I'd made appointments for them in advance. I paid the bill and left, but want to save others from this experience. I'm on a crusade to get these guys out of business.
