We should have researched all the various scams this company is actively involved in over the years.  As senrior citizens we joined LA Fitness in 12-31-2019 and could not be sorrier for the experience.

We were talked into the fitness training contract on Day 1, thinking it a pay as you go program. When asked for a copy of our contract, they found excuses to delay giving it to us till after 30 days (as documented by our emails and phone logs)- when a copy was finally emailed. Basically we got it when pandemic hit the area in full force, and we had to stop going after 5 weeks of of approx 9 training sessions.

Soon after the facility also closed for a time due to state mandate.  Both of us are immune compromised. As you can guess, the $300/mth billings soon continued, even when requesting a freeze. Even after vaccination we could not continue, yet the billings continued till we were well past our initial term of training in 2021.

We also informed them by email, and phone, and by mail of our dire situation, being affected not just by pandemic, by by pandemic consequences, and supply chain shortages affecting our self employment..  Upon personal visit, to inquire about our ability to actually use what we had already paid for, they said we would have to pay more money to reinstate the program.

At the time of this visit, in early 2022 - no one there had on a mask, or was socially distanced - making us even more uncomfortable. This is totally unacceptable as I told them, as it proves they only want a committment to charge us more money and basically puts their interests ahead of our own- from botha health and financial perspective.

I am not inclined to throw good money after bad with this company - and can only strongly advise others to do the same. You have only to go online to find ample evidence against them. Senior citizens are particularly vulnerable here. We had to survive on PPP loans during the pandemic to make up for lost income, so it was particuly distasteful that this company put their own interests first.
