My husband and I spent $8,000.00 to buy what we thought was a modest timeshare in Mazatlan.I have been traveling to Mazatlan for over 45 years and have a deep affinity for the people. Likewise I'm not stupid.

We bought this in 2009 and have never been able to use it. Maybe 30 units exist and maybe 2-3,000 sold.if you google la jolla Mexico you will find it flooded with stories worse than ours as well as explained better!

On my last visit to Mazatlan I went to la jolla to see in person if I could sell our ts back. I ended up meeting with the main operator but have forgotten his name. He refused to sit down at my table until I gave him a cc with a min. of 10,000 credit! said he had to check my credit!

This standoff went on for maybe 30minutes. Long story short: he said if I gave him 8000 more he would wire transfer me 74,000 in 6 weeks......being not stupid , I took my card and left. Went back to where I was staying and cancelled the car he had seen.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

The 'announcements' that La Jolla Mazatlan complaint have decreased has to be a lie. I call regularly trying to get anything out of them in return for the huge amount of money they scammed from us last winter, but they always promise to return my call and never do. I have tried to wait on the phone, but it does no good. Anyone who tries to deal with this company is going to be unhappy. I now keep paying interest on the money I borrowed on their promise to return it within 120 days and I know I may as well admit that I have been a fool and that I will never see my money again. And the wonderful travel system they promised to introduce us to which would give us upgrades and great locations? Not one word. I'm working now with Mexican Timeshare Solutions and PRFECO to get my money back!!!
