We purchased a leather La-Z-Boy recliner in January 2007 for approximately $500.00. In October 2007, we noticed the leather on the seat and seat back was peeling. We contacted our local dealer at a La-Z-Boy furniture gallery and were transferred to the local area warranty service representative. A service rep came to our house on ]November 14, 2007 and determined that replacement of the seat cover was covered under the warranty and said he would order the part. He stated we should have a replacement in six to eight weeks.

The recognition of the problem was the easy part. I have sent a detailed letter to La-Z-Boy regarding the issues we have dealt with since the original claim was filed. These include reps stating that the parts had been ordered on several occasions, phone calls not being returned, having to speak with managers, being told they were waiting to hear back from headquarters, a letter from headquarters trying to pass the buck back to local dealers, etc.

La-Z-Boy, the corporation, needs to take responsibility for and stand by their products. We strongly encourage anyone considering a furniture purchase to steer clear of La-Z-Boy. We regret not purchasing the cheaper Lane recliner at BJ's. We mistakenly assumed that La-Z-Boy was a quality product.

We hope that some attorney decides that maybe he could cash in on a class-action lawsuit against La-Z-Boy. It may not help us as individuals but La-Z-Boy certainly deserves to be publicly outed as a company that deals in products made shoddy materials and workmanship, a failure to stand by their stated warranty, and poor customer service.
